Despite the fact that mankind has reached unprecedented heights in engineering and industry, it seems that not all inventions have benefited people. Or maybe the reason is that they have not learned to properly use these benefits?

The moment of a collision of a motor ship and a barge on the Irtysh

On a hot summer day, August 17, 2013, many residents of Omsk decided to go on vacation on a sightseeing boat. At 13:00 he departed from the Omsk berth to carry out his regular sightseeing flight. Moms with infants, elderly spouses who celebrate the anniversary of their wedding, and many other passengers did not even imagine that the ship and the dry cargo ship on the Irtysh will soon be collided. The route of the floating craft ran from Omsk to Acharya. Having passed most of the way, near the village of Novaya Stanitsa, the ship and the dry cargo ship collided on the Irtysh. At that moment, all the passengers felt the strongest push, as a result of which the motor ship Polesie-8 got a hole and partially started to go under the water.

First Aid for Salvation

To the horror of the fifty-six passengers on board, no guide to the rescue from the captain was followed. As it turned out later, nobody saw him at the moment of the accident and after it. The help came in time from the cargo barge workers and from the people who were resting on the shore, who, until the moment of the collision, suspected nothing, roasted shish kebabs. Seeing what happened, many, taking boats, rushed to the rescue, thus, having transported some of the victims ashore before arriving at the ambulance.

Victims of tragedy

Unfortunately, the collision of a motor ship and a dry cargo ship on the Irtysh led to the fact that eight people could not be saved, although, according to preliminary data, there were only four dead. At first, it was not possible to find six more people who were listed as missing. To date , the Ministry of Emergency Measures has denied this initial information, confidently stating that there are no missing persons. The passengers, who suffered from the collision, were immediately hospitalized in Batumi # 1. That day in the hospital it was just not pushed through. Everywhere worried worried doctors and relatives of the victims, every now and then a stretcher flashed through the corridor.

Horrible consequences

All surgeons were immediately called to work. Meanwhile, other doctors examined the patients. The collision of a motor ship and a dry cargo ship on the Irtysh ... Many people will not forget this day for a very long time: everyone has wet clothing, and everything is still covered with blood. It is difficult to imagine how much the shock experienced by every passenger. As is known, immediately after the collision, water poured into the ship with unprecedented force. To take any consciously rescue actions was extremely difficult, because the catastrophe of the ship on the Irtysh was a complete surprise. As the survey showed, many victims were identified fractures (limbs and ribs) of varying complexity, concussion and lacerations were almost every affected passenger. Not to mention the emotional trauma that will remain after this terrible event. Unfortunately, in an extremely serious condition, after the accident, there were eleven more people. Some of them needed really serious operations, which could only be performed qualitatively in Moscow. For this purpose, two helicopters of the Ministry of Emergency Situations were immediately sent to Omsk , so that they could deliver the wounded to the capital in the near future. On the scene, a rescue operation was carried out, in which six vessels were involved, including even a floating crane. The operational headquarters tried to find out the possible reasons for the collision of the ship and the dry cargo ship on the Irtysh. Many argue that the whole responsibility lies with the steering pleasure craft, as it turned out that the disaster occurred due to a significant deviation from the pre-planned course.

Confused investigation

Police said that the captain was in a state of intoxication at the time of the collision, although later this information was refuted. As already mentioned above, responsibility can lie on the helmsman, due to a significant deviation of the boat from the course. Whatever the case, the perpetrator of the tragedy faces imprisonment for up to seven years.

The meeting that took place in the mayor's office brought some results. It was decided to fully pay for the funeral of the deceased and pay compensation to their families in the amount of two hundred thousand rubles. Victims will receive only fifty to one hundred thousand. Some of them are going to go to court to punish the company that owns the crashed ship.

As it is already known, for today two versions of the catastrophe are being considered. The first is the incorrect and unskilled actions of the crew of the ship, the second is the failure or malfunctioning of the machinery. However, the dead can not be returned, but the perpetrators must be punished, so that in the future such incidents happen as little as possible.
