Reno Scenic - the world's first compact van

Reno Scenic is a compact van that was released in 1996. Initially, it was based on the Megan model, but over time it became little like its "progenitor". The history of this car is divided into three generations.

Design Features

At the first acquaintance with this model, the look immediately identifies the original tail lights, which are made in the form of a broken line, as well as moldings of unusual shape.

Interior design is even more interesting. When you sit behind the wheel, immediately notice the lack of a block of instruments in the usual place - it is in the center of the torpedo. On the one hand, it's very convenient - you do not have to look down. But when maneuvering the success of such an arrangement is in question.

At first glance it may seem that the dashboard is overloaded with buttons, but as soon as you start using them, you notice that all the necessary actions are performed in such a way that the hands remain on the handlebars. Then something comes to realize how well and thoughtfully the electronics is designed. The unit that controls the separate climate control, the stereo system and the buttons of the glass lifts are located in the same place.

The only issue is the dual-zone climate control, which looks strange in such a large minivan. It can be useful only if one passenger wants -20, and another +20. And if it's serious, it's more like trying to tear up more money than a desire to increase comfort.

In the cabin are five separate seats, which have longitudinal adjustment and can change the inclination of the back. The second row of seats is removable. This can be very useful for the transportation of bulk cargo.

As already mentioned, the basis for the creation was taken by Renault Megan. As standard, one of the two petrol engines has volumes of 1.6 and 2 liters, respectively.

Sound insulation is not very high quality, so at high speeds you can hear quite unpleasant howling motor in the cabin.

The fuel consumption for a mixed cycle is from seven to eight liters per hundred kilometers.

A year after the release of the car was named the European car of 1997. Two years later the car was mildly modified: the headlights, the instrument panel and the front part of the body changed. In addition, the Renault Scenic RX4 was launched, the differences being the all-wheel drive, increased ground clearance and a slightly altered appearance.

Reno Scenic II

The second generation of the compact van was born in 2003 at the Geneva Motor Show. At the same time, a seven-seat modification of the model, called Grand Scenic, was released.

Another global modification occurred in 2009. As a basis, Megan was still taking, but already his updated version. Within this generation, Scenic 2012 was released, which included a few other engines. He also added a list of standard equipment.

conclusions

This car is not intended for young people who like polyhachit, nor for speed competitions. Ideal option for him is a measured trip of the whole family. This is indicated by its relatively low price and low operating costs. In addition, calculated Scenic is for calm and slow movements.
