Renault Scenic, the founder of traditions

Renault's car company has always been an explosive project. Unlike German manufacturers, which add a little technical innovations to their designs, once a year, French automakers are metered in a grand scale. So it was with the creation of Renault Scenic - an extremely interesting, multifaceted model, which today is rightfully considered one of the best in the world classification. The Renault Scenic family consists of four models in three generations.

Normal modifications with the transition from the sedan to the station wagon, and from the station wagon to the hatchback, was not. The Renault Scenic project was a self-sufficient development of a minivan-type car and Renault's designers coped with the task brilliantly. Renault Scenic was created on the basis of Renault Megan - a compact family car type, ranked as a golf class. Renault Megan is the successor of the cult car Renault 19 and, of course, the continuer of his traditions. A good heredity in the automotive world is not uncommon, and the Renault Megane model has become a valuable source of many high-tech parameters for the new Renault Scenic.

The project for the creation of Renault Scenic started in 1995. After adapting the Renault Megan platform to the new car, the main work began on the design and layout of the components. Renault Scenic was ready in 1996, and a year later the model received the title of "The best car in Europe in 1997". It was quite an expected honorable recognition of a new European machine, technically impeccable, distinguished by its stylish exterior and extraordinary ease of operation. The power unit Renault Scenic was equipped alternately with several motors of various characteristics, the first engine was quite modest in terms of traction, the power of 75 hp. And a volume of 1.4 liters. The following motor also did not give any advantages, but the third developed power in 115 hp, which ensured good acceleration.

In 1999, as a result of a deep restyling, Renault Scenic received an improved front end and new headlights. Significant changes touched the dashboard, door upholstery and mechanisms for adjusting the front seats. By that time, three new engines were ready-one petrol, two-liter, 140 hp, and two diesel engines with 82 and 103 hp. respectively. But these improved engines began to be installed on the car only in 2000.

The reliability of Renault Scenic, the reviews on which have always been positive, its constructive merits have not caused any complaints during the entire period of release. And yet one technical defect caused the need for a suspension of production. The fault was the parking brake of the car, or rather, the electronic provision of this mechanism. In the course of the car, the parking brake intermittently involuntarily braked the rear wheels, which was unacceptable.

The next car from the Scenic family was shown at the Geneva Motor Show in 2003. Renault Grand Scenic - an expanded version, seven-seat, with an elongated body. The new model was intended for trips outside the city, traveling, transportation of bulky goods. The second and the rear row of seats were laid on the floor, while getting an ideally flat platform. Renault Grand Scenic for a long time took its place in the family lineup of the Scenic family. Soon was released all-wheel drive Renault Scenic Conquest. Finally, in 2009 appeared Renault Scenic New - the car is significant, with obvious signs of sportiness.
