"Cherie Indis". Full review

The Chinese automotive industry systematically realizes its plans for "seizing the world." This is indicated not only by the growth in production, but also by the increasing demand for cars from the Middle Kingdom. The next brainchild of designers was the compact crossover "Cherie Indis".

The target orientation of Chinese automakers is maximum availability. However, the former shameless copying of more expensive European models is gradually becoming a thing of the past. "Cheri Indis" can no longer be called a clone. It is quite an independent car with its own style. The design of the crossover was developed in the Italian company "Tonno Design". What guided designers in the creation of the new Chery, the story is silent, but the car turned out pretty nice, and no obvious borrowing is observed.

Exterior design

The company Chery does not have such a budget as the world's recognized automakers, but each spent for the development of "Indis" yuan is fully justified. The crossover got a bright and impressive appearance. However, this should look like a small car, so as not to get lost in a powerful urban stream.

The 65 mm platform, shortened, gave the crossover a slightly lean look. A short base in combination with a rather narrow body (1621 mm) and high ground clearance makes it possible to classify Indis as supercompacts. In all other respects, "Cherie Indis", whose photo has already interested fans of compact cars, is quite attractive: the original form of front lights, hidden flush bumper with "guns" of fogs, a small hood, its lines smoothly turning into the front pillars, raised wheel arches.

But "Cheri" would not be Chinese, if it was made with Bavarian quality. And the weak places in the crossover counted a lot. This and "thin" fragile door handles, and small mirrors, and the ability to open the trunk only from the cabin.

Interior design

In the cabin, strange as it may seem, typical "Chinese" signs are completely absent. There is no unpleasant smell of plastic, which in some cars hails from China does not erode for years. Finishing though also plastic, but it is made qualitatively, without awful gaps and cracks. In general, the interior is simple, like a budget machine.

Despite the modest dimensions, there are plenty of seats in the cabin. In the back seat, no problem can accommodate passengers of high stature. Seats are comfortable and well regulated under the seated. As for the instrument panel, there are obvious flaws. Made on a "Citroen" style, the panel suggests that designers simply copied someone's decisions without thinking about how to use it all. The tachometer they placed on the left, and it almost does not fall into the field of view when moving. The digital speedometer is non-contrast and the numbers merge with the background. In the dark, the eyes quickly get tired of the "poisonous" lighting devices.

Characteristics of "Chery Indis"

Unfortunately, the crossover can not boast of a rich technical equipment. "Indis" is completed with only one engine in 1.3 liters with a power reserve of 83 "horses". At first glance, it is not enough (as for a car weighing 1175 kg). But fuel consumption in acceptable volumes is only 5 liters in mixed mode. The power unit is assembled only by a five-speed manual gearbox. But the developers claim that in the near future the crossover will receive a robotic transmission.

According to the level of security of certain data, the developers did not submit. No, they said that the crossover meets all the necessary parameters and is an absolutely safe machine, but they did not provide a video of the crash tests for review. But judging by the equipment, the "Cheri Indis", whose price starts at the mark of 370 thousand rubles, is rather well packed. In the arsenal of a pair of airbags, the system of electronic separation of the pressure on the brake pedal and ABC. In addition, the load-bearing elements of the body are made of high-strength steel.

To date, "Chery Indis" is the cheapest car in its class. Its closest competitor, Renault Sandero, loses nearly 3,000 dollars to it, although by standard equipment the European was not far from the Chinese.
