Plastic Boats of Russian Production Or Aluminum?

Choosing a boat for personal use, of course, you need to determine what material will be made of its body. Most experts recommend giving preference to ships of modern materials. Whatever you say, and the tree, with all its virtues, eventually decays quickly and the boat comes into disrepair. For this reason the domestic boats made of plastic and aluminum are the most popular today. Let's try to consider in detail their advantages and disadvantages, so that it would be easier for you to choose.

Plastic

Plastic boats of Russian production are the leaders of sales. Very many manufacturers manufacture boat hulls from this material. It should be noted that plastic is in this case not a banal plastic, but a modern composite material (most often, carbon fiber and glass fiber reinforced plastics). From the point of view of hydrodynamics and aesthetics of the case - they are much better than aluminum ones. Because fiberglass boats are light, you can transport them in a conventional trailer or on the upper trunk of the car. The hulls of these boats are reliable and durable: they are made of fiberglass, glass mat or glass wool.

Plastic boats of Russian production are easy to maintain, they are easy to store in the winter (you just need to cover with a tent, detach the engine and take it to a warm room). The body made of plastic is easily repaired, and there is absolutely no trace of the patches - a monolithic coating is obtained. It is curious that the place of repair becomes even more durable, which is important for possible future PE.

Speaking of catastrophes! If you swam far from the shore and somehow you still managed to break through the hull, do not panic. Such a boat has two layers (shell in the shell), the inter-corpus space is filled with two-component polyurethane foam, so the boat will not sink. Even if you imagine a fantastic situation, that your boat was torn in half, on one half you can swim to the shore as on a life ring.

Aluminum

Thinking about which boat is best to buy, you will certainly remember about aluminum vessels. Their bodies do not look as impressive and beautiful as fiberglass ones (even new ones), and in time this problem is aggravated. Nevertheless, the ratio of strength and weight they have excellent. Do not forget that aluminum - it's all the same metal that can float on the water, if from it to make the appropriate design. However, the seaworthiness of the aluminum case is not as high as that of the plastic case, because the composites allow creating absolutely any contours, including the trimaran type.

On the other hand, the aluminum case has very high impact resistance. This metal is malleable, therefore, in order to break through - it must first be "broken". In this sense, it exceeds even steel. Sea water, and moisture in general, aluminum boat is not afraid (here they are with fiberglass). But metal cases require more labor in production than plastic ones, which means that the final cost of the boat is higher. Plus, you get a more durable and reliable ship. Do not forget that aluminum is a valuable material for the secondary market. Almost certainly you will lose a little at resale (it is recommended to do it in three-four years).
