Hyaluronic acid - an indispensable component of youth and beauty

For the first time, hyaluronic acid was isolated by the German scientist Karl Meyer from the vitreous body of the eye. The name of the substance is composed of two words "hyalos", which means in translation from Greek "vitreous," and uronic acid. Despite the fact that this name is the most common, many chemists consider more correct the terms hyaluronan or hyaluronate.

To date, hyaluronic acid is most often artificially synthesized under laboratory conditions or extracted from animal tissues. The resulting substance is a white opaque crystal that does not have a smell or taste. When dissolved in water, it forms a jelly-like mass.
Hyaluronic acid is a part of such tissues of the human body as cartilage, vitreous, skin. This is why it is widely used in medicine for the treatment of diseases such as arthritis, radiculitis, cataract, glaucoma, burn injuries and skin graft.

In combination with lubricin, hyaluronic acid performs in our body the role of biological lubrication. In articular cartilage it is present in the form of the shell of each chondrocyte (cartilaginous cell).

In childhood and adolescence, the human body produces hyaluronate in sufficient quantities, but after 25 its synthesis begins to slow down gradually. The result of this deficit is a violation of blood supply to the organs, dry skin, small and deep wrinkles, wear of cartilaginous tissue. The solution of the problem can be the reception of hyaluronic acid orally, in the form of tablets or capsules.

It should be noted that in the dietary supplement, hyaluronate, as a rule, is combined with ascorbic acid, collagen and elastin. This complex has a powerful antioxidant effect, strengthens and revitalizes the joints, has a general therapeutic effect, restores the natural level of skin hydration from the inside. As a rule, the course of taking the drug lasts at least 5 months.

A new trend in plastic surgery is modeling a bust using the "Macroline" preparation, the main component of which is hyaluronate. Of course, with the help of a phyler it is not possible to significantly increase the breast in volume, but making a bust more elastic and changing its shape is a feasible task.
No less popular is hyaluronic acid and cosmetologists. Subcutaneous injection of the drug "Restylane" (trade name hyaluronan) allows you to model the face oval, adjust age changes, such as deep folds in the nasolabial triangle or transverse wrinkles on the forehead. The effect of the procedure of biorevitalization or mesotherapy lasts up to six months, which is quite comparable with more expensive options. Injections of the drug provide a quick and lasting effect.

However, the syringe and needle are not the only ways by which hyaluronic acid can be delivered to the skin. Cream, whey or face mask give an effect no worse, although not so long.
By the way, hyaluronic acid is considered one of the most useful ingredients of cosmetics. It does not cause allergic reactions or irritation, does not interfere with the natural breathing of the skin.

Most often, hyaluronic acid in cosmetics is combined with retinol (vitamin A) and tocopherol (vitamin E). Hyaluronic acid in this case enhances the action of the active components of creams and serums, due to its ability to form a protective film on the surface of the skin, thereby retaining beneficial substances in the deep layers.

Hyaluronic acid in cosmetic creams and masks can save the skin from the adverse effects of wind and cold, as well as ultraviolet rays.

There is also a way to get our skin to produce hyaluronic acid in a natural way. This is glycol peeling. This procedure is indicated for age-related changes in skin and acne.
