Salad from Peking cabbage is no longer a luxury

Peking cabbage is no longer exotic. And this is a fact. Peking cabbage has long been grown in Southeast Asia and is used by local chefs in a wide variety of dishes. But in Russia and neighboring countries it appeared relatively recently and immediately fell in taste to local residents. The fact is that before Peking cabbage was not grown in Russia, but imported from Asia. For this reason, its cost was high, and not every average person could afford such a purchase. But now, when the Pekinese cabbage started to grow in European countries, it has firmly entered our diet.

Peking or white?

In the kitchen, the pekinka is quite capable of replacing the cabbage, but it is still more tender and does not produce the specific odor peculiar to white cabbage. Its delicate taste is somewhat reminiscent of a salad. And besides, the useful properties of Peking cabbage are already so well known that it is simply impossible not to use it in your diet.

From the Peking cabbage it is possible to prepare a variety of various dishes, but the greatest preference is given to it in the preparation of salads. It fits perfectly with most ingredients and spices. Soy sauce in a cabbage salad recalls its eastern origin, and the addition of crushed basil, curry or ground coriander gives its taste an exotic sophistication. In addition, it can serve as an excellent decoration for cold appetizers, salads and other dishes. Leaves of Peking cabbage as well as white cabbage can be marinated and salted.
