How to cook jam from a viburnum

Kalina, the harvesting of which begins around November, is a very useful berry. It contains a great many useful substances and vitamins, which are simply necessary for the normal functioning of the human body. The fruits of the viburnum perfectly help to fight against colds and, as the experienced housewives say, from the viburnum you can make a very tasty jam that will not only help you recover from a sharply emerging disease, but will also become one of the favorite delicacies of true gourmets. However, harvesting the viburnum for the winter is a very laborious process, so do not think it will be easy.

Jam from the viburnum

To prepare you need:

  • 1 kg of calyx berries;

  • 0,8 kg of sugar-sand;

  • 0.2 liters of purified water.

To begin with, you need to wash the berries under running water, and then put them in a saucepan of the right size. Now your task is to evaporate berries. How it's done? A pot of Kalina should be placed in the oven, which must first be heated to 170 degrees. Now your task is to constantly check the berries.

And you in the meantime prepare the syrup. For this, you need to take water and sugar, mix and put on a stove. Once water boils, it can be removed.

As soon as you notice that the viburnum in the oven has become soft, you can take it out and pour it with freshly prepared syrup. Now there is only one thing left - to cook the jam from the viburnum. To do this, put a pot of berries on a plate on a weak fire and cook in two batches. And between the first and second cooking it is necessary to make a significant break - about 8 hours.

At the end of the second boil, start to sterilize the jars. Directly in a hot form, pack jam from the viburnum in jars and clog them. Now cover the jars with a blanket, and when they cool down - drop them into the cellar or put them in a cool place.

If you are often tormented by heartburn, you can try to be treated with jam, prepared according to the above recipe. For this, one teaspoon of dessert diluted in a glass of purified water will suffice.

Jam from the viburnum and apples

To prepare you need:

  • 1.5 kg of calyx berries;

  • 5 kg of apples;

  • 5 kg of sugar.

From the ingredients listed in the list of quantities of viburnum need to squeeze out the juice. After doing this, pour it into a separate bowl and leave to infuse. Now grasp the apples. They need to be carefully washed and cut from each core. Cut the fruits into slices and sprinkle with sugar. After that, put apples on a plate and cook until the selected syrup ceases to spread over the saucer. As soon as you achieve this result, remove the jam and cool it. After this, add the juice of the viburnum and cook the mass again.

At the end of cooking, start preparing the cans - they need to be sterilized. Then spread the jam over them and mothball them.

There is another option for harvesting viburnum for the winter - you can simply rub it with sugar. To prepare this jam leaves a minimum of ingredients and very little time. You will need only sugar and berries of Kalina, pre-picked and peeled from twigs and foreign garbage. Ready-made berries must be washed under running water and rubed through a sieve. In order to make this process easier, you can pre-scald the berries with boiling water.

If you do not have the opportunity or the desire to grind berries through a sieve, you can just skip them through a meat grinder, and then mix with sugar.

You can keep this dessert only in the cold. You can clog it under a plastic lid and lower it into the cellar - it will stand still for a long time.

The main thing in this jam is that the viburnum, prepared according to all the above recipes, is very useful and can be easily used as a medicine, especially since it will not be bitter at all, but rather, on the contrary, tasty in use. So treatment with it will not give you unpleasant sensations.
