Main types of society: characteristic features

Before you go into details and understand what kinds of society there are, you should define the very concept. So, the totality of people, which was formed under the action of purposeful and rationally organized activity, is called society. At the same time, individuals are united not because of deep principles, but thanks to the convention, the same areas of interest and the treaty. Often, society refers to the relationship established between individuals and in the state as a whole. Of course, thanks to such sciences as philosophy and sociology, the interpretation of the sought-after concept can occur from different sides and points of view, therefore, the most common definition is used, which reads as follows. The society is an independent collective of people, which has a special way and structure, is characterized by specific political relations and choice of form of state power.

The long history of the development of mankind has provided a fairly broad classification, which affects not only all aspects of life, but also characterizes them from different points of view. At present, scientists distinguish the following main types of society: traditional, industrial and post-industrial. Let's consider each of these types in more detail to reveal their differences and features.

1. Traditional

So, the first kind of relationship between individuals combines all "early civilizations" that did not have a sufficient industrial complex. At the same time, the development and widespread dissemination of agriculture is the determining factor by which such types of society are difficult to confuse with any other. Nevertheless, such a definition is quite general, which allows us to include here and significantly different forms of human relationships, such as feudal, agrarian or tribal. In this regard, many modern scientists do not use the concept of "traditional society", and replace it with more specialized definitions.

2. Industrial

Like other types of society, this type has a number of characteristic features. This includes, for example, a complex and sufficiently developed division of labor, a high degree of specialization and automation of production, mass production of goods, as well as a high level of innovation and technology in the production process and people's livelihoods. It implies the creation of an integral state with a certain language and culture. The main direction of development is industry.

3. Postindustrial

It is born at the present time and characterizes the types of society that differ significantly from the first two types. Important is the improvement of technology, the accumulation of knowledge and information. A characteristic feature is the development of the service sector.

As mentioned earlier, the three types of society considered have features and distinctive features that allow one to accurately relate one or another human relationship to one of them.
