Fertile period - what is it?

Many couples, wanting to have a child, can not wait for a long time to see such a desired two strips on the pregnancy test. Why is this happening? There can be many reasons. And to uncover them, of course, a medical examination is required. However, the reason can be quite simple: the couple neglects a special time for conception. But you only need to know when the fertile period will begin and how long the woman will last. What it is? This is the interval of the menstrual cycle, the most favorable for the fertilization of the egg. The duration of this period is rather short - only 48 hours. This means that a mature ovum that left the ovary can only be fertilized for two days. Nevertheless, one should know that spermatozoa in the female body retain their viability for 3-5 days. This means that in general, the fertile period in women lasts 6-8 days. It is at this time that conception is most likely.

If a woman's cycle is regular and lasts for 28 days, then ovulation will come on 13-14 days. This means that the fertile period is the time from the 10th to the 17th day of the cycle. • Measurement of basal temperature. As a rule, in the first half of the cycle it is less than 37 degrees. Before ovulation, the temperature drops by 0.1-0.2 degrees, and after its completion it rises sharply above 37 degrees.

• Calendar method. To determine the fertile cycle period by this method, certain calculations are made. Of the duration of the shortest cycle, the number 18 is subtracted from the last year, and the number 11 is subtracted from the length of the longest cycle. The interval between the obtained numbers of the month and means the fertile period. That this is the least reliable method, of course, is understandable, since each woman is individual.

• Ultrasonography. This option is the most reliable. If a whole follicle measuring 22-24 mm is found, it means that ovulation will come in the near future, and the chances of pregnancy increase significantly.

Frequency of intercourse
