But the cultivation of onion from the seeds is a long process, stretching for two whole seasons.

In the first year a seedling is grown from seeds. Pre-seeds must be germinated. To do this, they are wrapped in a tissue pouch that is moistened with water. The bag is put in a warm place and waiting for the shoots to appear, not forgetting to sprinkle it periodically with water. Then sprouted seeds are scattered over previously prepared grooves, covered with a light layer of soil. The beds are covered with a film until the first shoots appear, after which it must be removed. When the shoots get stronger, it is necessary to thin out in such a way that the distance between each plant is 3-4 cm. Further care is reduced to irrigation and the removal of weeds. Selected bulbs are selected: larger ones can be eaten, and those that are smaller, need to be dried and stored well until next year. In the new season the sowing is planted on the beds, and at the end of the summer gives a good harvest.

If the cultivation of onions takes more time, the onions are family - the harvest yields much faster, although, of course, care for it is also necessary. Family onions have a scientific name - shallots, although it is used very rarely. We must give credit that the family onion ripens much earlier than the onion - from planting to harvesting takes about 50-70 days. Family it is named because of one planted bulb grows a whole family of smaller on the size of onions. The principle of planting is the same as described above. However, in some cases, one bulb is divided into two or four parts, thereby increasing the amount of planting material. The family bow is not as big as the onion, but it is much better kept, often 2-3 years. His vegetable growers love not only the rate of maturation, but the unpretentiousness to the conditions of growth.

Indian onion, cultivation

Indian onions (on the scientific birdwheel tail), like a family onion and onions, belongs to the family of bulbous, although with the latter has little to do. First, the Indian onion itself is very toxic, although it has found application in folk medicine. Here the main rule "not to overdo" plays an important role. Secondly, the Indian onion is more a house plant than a garden one, although growing it in street conditions also takes place. You can grow it from seeds or borrow a small onion, which usually grows next to the mother's. When planting the bulb is buried in the ground only by its lower part, otherwise it is completely located on the surface. From the bulb leaves beautiful green leaves, twisting at the end. On these leaves you can determine the age of Indian onions, since every year only one leaf grows.
