Cultivation of onion varieties Exibishen: some recommendations

The onion family includes more than 200 species of crops that grow in Europe. The most popular and cultivated are leeks, shallots, onions and garlic. Not so long ago the family got another sort of onion, called Exibishen.

This variety was the result of the work of the breeders of the company from Holland, Bejo Zaden. The variety turned out to be one-year, medium-sized, not intended for long-term storage (no longer than 4 months), but extremely yielding - harvest from 1 sq. Km. M area, on average, is 2.3 kg. Bulbs are oval, juicy, sweet, ideal for salad dressing. The weight of one bulb, on average, 110 g, but can, in some cases, reach up to 500 and even 800 g. It is recommended to cultivate onions in private and country plots. Planting is carried out both with the help of seeds, and seedlings.

Seedlings can grow larger bulbs, but require more labor. The most optimal is to grow onions from the seeds, which are recommended to prepare in advance. To sow in the open ground Onion Excibishen, the cultivation of which is proposed to master in this material, it follows, somewhere, in April, means that the sowing material can be slowly prepared in February-March. Since the size of the seeds is very small, and they should be sown no less than 5 cm, the most rational and convenient is to first fix them on paper strips.

It is done this way: first, the most common starch paste is made from a weakly flowing consistency, in which powdery fertilizers are added with a full complex of minerals and microelements, such as AVA. The finished mixture is transferred to a container, from which it will be conveniently squeezed out by drop. It can be a plastic bottle with a hole and a tube in the lid or a conventional, preferably durable, plastic bag, with a small hole in the corner. It is convenient to take stripes from a roll of toilet paper, cut across two or three parts with a sharp knife. On the strip, every five centimeters, squeezed out drops of a mixture of paste with fertilizers and tweezers on them are laid onion seeds. You need to give the paste to dry, roll the stripes into rolls and leave until the required time.

To sow onions Excibishen, the cultivation of which is not a difficult and very grateful process, follows into loose, fertile, non-acidic soil, to a depth of 1.5 cm. To bulb is large, it is not recommended to pick a feather on the greens. Further cultivation of onions requires timely watering, weeding from weeds and, most importantly, loosening the soil. Seedlings will appear, approximately, in 10 days. From shoots to harvesting will take about 130 days, a month before that, you should completely stop watering. A signal to the fact that the onion is time to collect, there will be some thinning of the stem, yellowness and lodging of the leaves. It should not be delayed with harvesting, otherwise the onion growth will resume again and the bulbs will become unsuitable for storage.

If the cultivation of the Excibisin onions is presumed in the seedling way, then the seeds should be planted in the box in March. The thickness of the fertile soil layer should be at least 10-15 cm. The seeds are sown to a depth of 1.5 cm rather densely, they are watered and the box is covered with a film or glass that can be removed after the shoots. Watering is moderate, it is also necessary to water the plants and before planting themselves into the open ground. Landing on the site to produce in May, in prepared and fertilized soil. The seedlings should be carefully padded together with the soil and, after cutting the spine 1/3 of the length, planted at a distance of 20-25 cm from each other. During the growing season, the plant does not require additional fertilizing, but only requires moderate watering and timely loosening of the soil.
