Commander of the Pacific Fleet Avakyants Sergei Iosifovich: biography, achievements and interesting facts

Sergei Avakyants is the commander of the Pacific Fleet of Russia. This man is known for his resoluteness and exactingness to himself and his subordinates. Without these qualities, it is impossible to make a good career in military affairs, as the commander of the Pacific Avakyants fleet did. Let's study in detail the biography and achievements of this commander.

early years

The future commander of the Pacific Fleet, Sergei Avakyants, was born in April 1958 in Yerevan, the capital of the Armenian SSR. His father was an officer of the Navy Joseph Serapionovich Avakyants - an ethnic Armenian.

Sergei graduated from the school in his hometown in 1975, after which he entered the Black Sea Naval School named after Nakhimov, located in Sevastopol. This school is known as one of the best military institutions in the country, and a glorious history dating back to 1937. He graduated from his Avakyants in 1980.

Service at the Admiral Yumashev

After completing his studies at the school, Sergei Avakyants was sent to serve in the navy, immediately receiving an officer's post.

From 1980 to 1989, he was on the ship Admiral Yumashev. This is a large anti-submarine ship with a displacement of 7,535 tons, which since 1978 was put into operation and became part of the Northern Fleet, based on the Baltic Sea. During the flights on this ship Avakyantsu was destined to visit both the Mediterranean Sea and the coast of tropical Africa.

Sergei Iosifovich was on this ship commander of a group of anti-aircraft missile division, and then became a senior assistant commander.

Continuation of studies

To improve his professional qualifications and get a new title, Sergei Avakyants in 1989 began studying at the Naval Academy named after Kuznetsov, located in St. Petersburg. This educational institution was founded in the nineteenth century, in 1827, as the Marine Nikolayev Academy. It serves for the training of officers of high command.

Sergei Iosifovich successfully completed his studies in 1991.

Command "Marshal Ustinov"

Now, after completing the course of training, Sergei Avakyants could start command of a warship. His first ship, on which he became commander, was the cruiser "Marshal Ustinov". At the head of the crew of this ship, Sergei Iosifovich stayed from 1991 to 1996.

The missile-type cruiser "Marshal Ustinov" was launched in 1982 at the shipyard in Nikolaev, but it was put into operation and transferred to the Northern Fleet only in 1986. The displacement of this vessel is 11280 tons, and the maximum crew strength is 510 people.

In the early nineties this ship paid a visit to military bases in the USA (1991) and in Canada (1993). However, a significant period of command Avakyants command, the ship stood on routine repairs (from 1994 to 1997). It replaced the main power plant. But "Marshal Ustinov" was able to perform as a flagship in military parades in St. Petersburg.

Further promotion

In 1996, the future commander of the Pacific Fleet Sergei Avakyants becomes deputy commander of the 43rd Division of Missile Ships. Already in 1998 he was promoted to the rank of chief of staff of the same unit. But on this career career Sergei Iosifovicha did not stop. In 2001, he became commander of the same 43rd division.

Since 2003, Sergei Avakyants was appointed to the high post of chief of staff of the whole squadron.

In the military academy

But in order to get to the very top of the administrative structure of the army, it was required to graduate from the Military Academy of the General Staff. Sergei Iosifovich goes there in 2005.

The Military Academy is one of the oldest military schools. It was founded in 1832 as the Imperial Military Academy. Since then, this institution has changed its name more than once. So, since 1918 it became known as the Academy of the Red Army. Its real name is the Academy since 1992. In this educational institution the command staff of the highest hierarchical level of the army is trained.

The future commander of the Pacific Fleet Sergei Avakyants successfully graduated in 2007.

Transfer to the Pacific Fleet

Immediately after the end of this higher educational institution, Sergei Iosifovich was appointed Chief of Staff of the Novorossiysk Base of the Black Sea Fleet. But it so happened that he actually did not enter this post, since he was transferred to a completely different part of our Motherland - to the Far East.

There Avakyantsu in the rank of Rear Admiral was entrusted with the command of the Maritime Flotilla of the Pacific Fleet. This unit was an association of dissimilar forces, and was formed back in 1979. It was deployed in Primorsky Krai, in the following settlements: Vladivostok, Fokino, Bolshoy Kamen and Slavyanka.

Sergei Iosifovich was the commander of this division from September 2007 to August 2010.

The way to the post of commander of the Pacific Fleet

In August 2010, Avakyants was transferred to the headquarters of the Pacific Fleet. Moreover, he became the chief of this staff. At the same time, he also served as First Deputy Commander of the Pacific Fleet.

The Pacific Fleet is one of the most important large units of the Russian Navy. The history of its origin dates back to 1731, when the Russian empire was firmly established on the western shore of the Pacific Ocean. In the history of the Pacific Fleet, there are many military operations that can be proudly inscribed in the history of our Motherland. The headquarters of this unit is currently based in the city of Vladivostok. It was there that the rear admiral of the Russian Navy Sergei Avakyants was to continue to serve.

Commander of the Pacific Fleet Konstantin Semenovich Sidenko in October 2010 received a promotion, since he was appointed commander of the entire Eastern Military District. Thus, after only two months in the location of the headquarters of the Pacific Fleet, Sergei Avakyants, as first deputy, was appointed acting commander of this largest unit of the Russian fleet.

But only in a year and a half, in May 2012, the prefix was removed from the title of his post. It was then that the Russian president signed a decree, the consonant of which was Rear Admiral Sergei Avakyants, the commander of the Pacific Fleet.

On the post of commander

But we should not think that Sergey Avakyants' career growth is over. In December 2012, the new military rank received the commander of the Pacific Fleet - Vice Admiral. This title was the next step in the military hierarchy after the Rear Admiral, whom Sergei Iosifovich was at that time. The title of Rear Admiral did not correspond to the importance of the post of commander of the Pacific Flotilla, so this discrepancy was eliminated.

The commander of the Pacific Fleet, Vice Admiral Sergei Avakyants, showed by his example how a real commander of the highest rank should be. He was very demanding of his subordinates, but he did not spare himself in the service, but, moreover, showed an amazing level of professionalism. This could not be overlooked by the high command, which in December 2014 appropriated to him another rank - Admiral.

All the tasks that Sergei Avakyants puts before his subordinates are solved as accurately as possible and promptly. For example, summing up the results of 2015, the commander of the Pacific Fleet underwater forces Igor Mukhametshin reported on the successful training launch of cruise missiles. In addition, he noted that the coastal infrastructure of the Kamchatka Peninsula has now been changed as much as possible for the operation of the submarine fleet. Of course, this is a significant share of the merits of Sergei Iosifovich, as the commander of the entire Pacific Fleet. He occupies this position to the present.

Awards and achievements

Sergei Avakyants for the whole period of his long service has been awarded various awards, which once again underscore his contribution to the development of the fleet.

Even in Soviet times, Sergei Iosifovich was awarded the Order "For Service to the Motherland". In 1996, he was awarded the Order of Military Merit. He received a similar award in 2010, but only "For Marine Merit". In 2002, Sergei Iosifovich was awarded the Order of Merit for the Fatherland. Among his last awards, it is especially worth mentioning the anniversary medal of the ROC "In memory of the reign of Prince Vladimir," which Avakyants received personally from the hands of Patriarch Kirill in November 2015.

In addition, Sergei Iosifovich was awarded various medals of the USSR and Russia. Among them we should mention: "70 years of the USSR Armed Forces", "300 years of the Russian Navy", "For Distinction in Service" (2 times), medals "For Irreproachable Service" of the 2nd and 3rd degree.

As you can see, the list of awards of Sergei Avakyants is impressive, but he is confirmed by the real merits of this man who devoted his life to serving the Motherland in the open sea.

general characteristics

We learned who the Admiral of the Pacific Fleet commander Sergei Avakyants is, and studied his biography in detail. He is a man of honor, a true Russian officer. No matter what difficulties he was on the way, he always went to the set goal, despite the obstacles. This quality was especially useful to Sergei Iosifovich in his professional work - service to the Fatherland in the ranks of the armed forces, in particular, in the Navy. He is always very demanding of his subordinates, and the executive is in front of the command, which is what a truly professional military man needs. Nevertheless, his exactingness does not degenerate into tyranny, because he sets realistic tasks, and does not force the subordinates to do the impossible. If an order is given from above, which Avakyants considers to be clearly erroneous, he will not be afraid to notice this to the leadership and express his proposals.

Let's hope that the future service of Sergei Iosifovich Rodina will be even more fruitful, and he will reach new heights in moving up the career ladder.
