Composite Veneers

In aesthetic dentistry, it has long been invented such a method of restoration of teeth as vinification. It consists in installing on the pre-prepared teeth special veneering inserts - veneers, which reliably fix on the tooth enamel and allow to restore the shape, color and arrangement of the teeth. This technique is widely used throughout the world as a more sparing alternative to denture in relation to teeth.

Veneers can be made of different materials. Some of the most popular among them are specially selected composite compositions that relieve both the patient and the dentist from the need to remove a large part of the enamel for installation. In addition, composite lining allows a fairly short time to achieve fairly good aesthetic results at a relatively low cost of the procedure.

To date, when installing composite veneers, it is possible to select the color shade with maximum accuracy, and also to create perfectly even and beautiful teeth. It should be noted that both the mechanical and aesthetic characteristics of composite materials, as well as their cost, depend on the physical and chemical parameters of the filler. The smallest demand is for macronutrients whose particle sizes are about 30 μm. They are hard enough to be polished, besides they quickly lose their original color and glossiness during operation.

Mini-fillers with a particle size of up to 1.5 μm are used much more often. This is due to the fact that the strength of such a material is high enough to cope with the average intensity of the chewing load. In addition, due to the small size of the particles, the composite consisting of a microfiller will retain its mechanical properties for a longer time, as well as a given color shade.

Microfillers are the most popular in the manufacture of composite veneers. The particle size of which such a material consists is only 0.44 μm. These facing inserts show satisfactory strength, but retain their original color for a long time and are well polishable. Composite composition of microfiller has excellent aesthetic qualities, allowing to create cosmetic inserts, As close as possible to the color of natural tooth enamel.

During the last time, composite veneers made of micro-hybrid formulations have been widely used. Such a composite contains microparticles of special dental glass, which significantly increases their strength. This material is recommended to use to restore the cutting or chewing part of the teeth. The microhybrid composite has rather good aesthetic properties and is easily polished.

A significant disadvantage of vinification with composite materials is that, under the influence of aggressive substances that contain food, and also the presence of bad habits, the lining inserts lose their color and natural shine over time. Due to this, the restored teeth will differ from natural teeth, which is especially noticeable in the place where composite veneers and teeth are located in close proximity.

However, despite the comparative fragility of the aesthetic result, the color of the cosmetic inserts can be restored without the need for a replacement.
