Wood burning stove. How to make a wood stove for a bath with your own hands

With the approach of winter and cold weather on the street, being in garages and utility rooms is becoming less comfortable. Yes, and the owners of cottages and country houses, too, is the problem of heating. Therefore, the problem arises of heating with the help of such a fairly common type of fuel as firewood. If the stove is made of bricks, it will need to be constantly heated so that the room temperature is maintained at a certain level. Burzhuyka requires a lot of fuel, but it can hardly be called effective.

The modern approach

Heating cottages or country houses can be produced in various ways, but one of the highly effective methods can be considered air heating. Its essence lies in the fact that in the lower part of the building there is a special air heater, which by means of the airway network spreads heat throughout the structure, returning cold air to the heat source. Such a system can be equipped with various devices that allow increasing its functionality at times. However, the installation of such a complex heating system in the house can be quite expensive, so you can use such an option as a long-burning wood burning stove.

Checked by time

This device can be called a descendant of the classic version for heating the room, which proved to be effective and reliable for many centuries. A long-burning wood -burning oven allows efficient heating of a room without unnecessary effort and expense. This is the best solution, if you need a long time to keep the room warm, without performing an additional drowning. Such a long-burning burning wood stove must be heated only once every few hours. The intensity of heat release remains at the proper level, and there is a saving of firewood.

Advantages and disadvantages

Wood burning stoves of long burning are characterized by a number of positive qualities, among which the most significant of them are:

  • Due to the simplicity and reliability of the design, a long service life of up to 40-50 years is guaranteed. Especially when it comes to samples made of cast iron, which are almost unaffected by corrosion, and also capable of withstanding temperature fluctuations and prolonged thermal stresses.
  • Such a stove can be easily installed in any room, regardless of its stylistic orientation, as it has an aesthetic appearance.
  • Availability of fuel. At present, for a variety of regions, the tree serves as an inexpensive raw material, especially if the heater is not used constantly, but only a few weeks per year.
  • A tree is an environmentally friendly material, so a long-burning wood-burning stove does not become a source of environmental pollution, and when using coniferous woods, the atmosphere in the house will be filled with a useful coniferous fragrance.
  • Thanks to the technology of prolonged combustion, it is possible to significantly increase the efficiency - up to 85-90%, while fuel consumption will be reduced in this case.

The disadvantages of such heating devices are the lack of automation, so they are unable to work without regular supervision. A long-burning wood burning stove needs a high-quality chimney, which will constantly undergo substantial heating during operation. The obligatory presence of a pipe excludes the use of such devices as autonomous heating systems in multi-storey houses.

Principle of operation and design features

Depending on the model, a long-burning wood stove can be equipped with a convection heating system or a water heat exchanger. The simplest models make the room warm only by heating the air in contact with the heated housing. Devices of long burning use the appropriate technology, which is based on the release of firewood pyrolysis gas. The furnace top for this is divided into a pair of separate chambers, which are connected by a burner. In the first chamber, the wood itself is burned, and in the second - wood gas. The device of the furnace - regardless of its design - assumes the obligatory presence of an ash pit located directly under the furnace. He collects residual combustion products in the form of ash and ash, which are poured into it through the grate in the bottom of the furnace. Opening the ash pan in most furnaces allows you to regulate the air supply to the combustion chamber, which affects the burning rate of the fuel. By the same principle, it is possible to make wood stoves for baths on your own.

Basic installation rules

If we take into account that the metal case of the device undergoes a strong heating during operation, it should be understood that the furnace should not be installed near objects that can ignite from thermal exposure. It is necessary to leave a free space of 20-30 centimeters to any of the surfaces. The floor and walls in the area of installed heaters will be properly equipped with screens that repel heat. It is important to pay special attention to the flue. The quality of the pipe used depends on the subsequent operation of the furnaces, as well as the duration of their operation as a whole.

The order of assembling a self-made long-burning furnace

For work you will need a channel, pipes and steel barrel for 200 liters. The wood-burning stove can be made by analogy with the Lithuanian stoves of Strupov: in the steel barrel it is necessary to cut down the upper part, and then carefully level the sharp edges. Then, in the top cover of the tank, make a hole for the chimney, the diameter of which should not be less than 150 mm. This is the only way to ensure complete removal of combustion products. Here, another hole is also made, intended for an additional pipe serving as a source of air intake, which makes the combustion process as efficient as possible. Now a cover is installed in which a hole is made for the blowing pipe. Such a system allows you to load a lot of fuel at once. As a boiler it is possible to use not only a barrel, but also any other metal container.
