Installation of insulation. Glue for expanded polystyrene

Styrofoam is considered to be one of the most popular insulating materials. It is used for warming facades of buildings. The material is produced in the form of plates having different thicknesses. Buying a heater, it is recommended to buy glue immediately. With this mixture, the panels are mounted on the facade.

The adhesive for extruded polystyrene is produced on the basis of high-quality Portland cement. Modifying additives and quartz aggregates are added to it. The adhesive for expanded polystyrene is convenient and safe to work with. The solution has high adhesive properties to organic and mineral bases. The mixture helps to securely fix the heater on the facade. After solidification, the solution becomes vapor-proof, water-resistant and resistant to temperature changes.

Before installing the heater, prepare the base. The surface is cleaned of dirt, dust, traces of paint, grease or oil stains and other substances contributing to the reduction of adhesion. The adhesive for expanded polystyrene should be applied on a dry and strong base. It is recommended to repair the foundation defects (cracks, potholes) with the repair mixture before installation.

Before application, water of room temperature is added to the dry mixture and mixed with a drill with a nozzle. Water is taken at the rate of 0.18 liters per kilogram of dry mixture. As a result, a solution of a homogeneous consistency should be obtained. After the mixture is left for five minutes, then mix again. Ready adhesive for expanded polystyrene can be used for two hours. The material consumption is five and a half kilograms per square meter.

Foamed polystyrene plates can be mounted on the facade in several ways. The mock method is used in those cases when there are irregularities up to a centimeter on the basis. In such situations, the adhesive composition is applied in the form of beacons, which are distributed uniformly over the surface. Band-by-layer method of application is used when mounting plates on a surface having unevennesses up to 0.5 cm. In this case, the adhesive for expanded polystyrene is applied along the entire perimeter of the insulation plate and in its center. Strips are applied along the perimeter with breaks. This prevents the appearance of air plugs during the installation process.

When using these two methods of applying the adhesive mixture, surface irregularities are compensated. In this case, the solution should cover sixty percent of the surface of the expanded polystyrene plate.

There is also a continuous method of applying a solution to a thermal insulation material. This method is used in the presence of irregularities on the basis of up to three millimeters. In this case, the mixture is applied to the slabs evenly over the entire surface with a notched trowel.

Mounting plates is carried out immediately after applying glue on them. For better adhesion of the solution to the substrate, the insulation is pressed against the surface. Plates of expanded polystyrene are mounted one to the other in one plane. The width of the seam should not exceed two millimeters.
