Werner Goldberg - the "ideal" soldier of the Nazi army

A soldier of Nazi Germany, Werner Goldberg, is a prime example of how volatile the world of the Third Reich was. The story of this man's life is a series of ups and downs, mixed with a bitterness of losses and disappointments. But the memory of him must live forever, as his deeds deserve it.

Werner Goldberg: biography. early years

To begin our history follows from the parents of Werner, as they are the key to understanding everything that is happening. The father of the boy was a purebred Jew, but because of his love for a Christian, he renounced Judaism. And yet such an alliance meant that Werner Goldberg was born a half-breed, or, as they were called in Germany, a mishling.

Speaking of the exact date, the boy was born on October 3, 1919. The origin of the father was kept secret, as this could cause their family extra trouble. Therefore Werner and his brother Martin were brought up as purebred Germans and even baptized in a local Lutheran church.

After graduation, young Goldberg was lucky enough to get a job at the sewing factory Schneller und Schmeider. Here he worked as an apprentice until 1938. He had to leave there because the young man was called to the Imperial Labor Service, where he was legally obligated to the German people.

The beginning of the Second World War

On December 1, 1938, Werner Goldberg was summoned to serve in the Wehrmacht. It can not be said that the guy was delighted with this message, but he could not refuse. More curiously, fortune identified a young soldier as the part that took part in the Polish company. Thanks to this, Werner met with the photographer of Berliner Tageblatt, which subsequently transformed the whole of Germany.

The thing is that the Nazi Party was desperate for a beautiful idol, inspiring the youth of the country. And the will of fate was Werner Goldberg. Photos soldier originally appeared on the pages of the Berliner Tageblatt, and soon all went to all the recruiting posters of the Third Reich. At the same time under the portrait of Goldberg there was a bright inscription: "The ideal soldier of Germany".

The first blow in the back

However, no sooner had posters with Werner's face appeared on the streets of the country, as the soldier was driven from service. The reason for this was a special decree of Adolf Hitler, according to which all half-breeds were forbidden to serve in the Wehrmacht. Such a turn of fate was a real blow in the back, as now Werner Goldberg could no longer defend his family from the attacks of the Nazi party.

The only solution was to return to the old job. The benefit of the garment factory hospitably accepted the former employee, which helped a little to forget about the recent hardships. It is noteworthy that in the production of Werner proved to be a first-class specialist. Soon he was entrusted with a management position, so he was able to conclude several favorable contracts.

The fight against Nazi repression

At the end of 1942, Werner's father entered the hospital. Despite the fact that the disease was not serious, during the treatment his true origin surfaced. Naturally, such an event immediately attracted the attention of the Gestapo, and Senior Goldberg was taken into custody.

Since he was sick, he was originally transferred to a hospital for Jews. But everyone understood perfectly well that from there he would go straight to the Auschwitz concentration camp. Werner Goldberg did not want to put up with such a fate, and therefore during the Christmas celebration kidnapped his father from the hospital.

For a long time, the "dogs" of the Third Reich raved about trying to find a runaway Jew. But Werner was always a step ahead of them, thanks to which he and his father successfully survived all repressions of the Second World War. Unfortunately, he failed to save the rest of his family, which for a long time was burdened by the heart of the former soldier.

Postwar years

The war left a lot of scars on Werner's heart. The benefit was healed by the sweet girl Gertrude, who later became his wife. Their marriage brought three beautiful children to the Goldberg family, their strength and the memory of his father's life was recreated.

In addition, after the war, Werner Goldberg went head over heels into Christian teaching. Moreover, in 1959 he became a deputy from the German Christian-Democratic Union (CDU). Later, he was entrusted with the management of a commission to review legal complaints.

The former Wehrmacht soldier died on September 28, 2004. Two years later the world saw a historical film called "Jewish soldiers of Hitler". It was she who discovered the whole truth about the life of the half-blood that had become both the face of the nation and the fighter against it.
