Two-stroke oil: marks, characteristics, application

Boats are used for both water walks and fishing. There are various options, ranging from costly cumbersome duralistic options and ending with small rubber ones. For convenience of use, the boats are equipped with engines, the two-stroke ones are most widely used.

The boat engine, being a complex mechanism, with the work of which friction occurs, can not do without engine oil. His choice should be treated with special care, as it affects the life of the device.

Differences in motors

The main difference between four-stroke and two-stroke mechanisms is that for the latter a mixture of gasoline and oil is used. Therefore, the lubricant must meet other standards. During combustion, there should be no release of a large mass of combustion products to prevent their settling on internal elements. Also, the oil for two-stroke engines must be completely mixed with gasoline and burned simultaneously with it. If a lot of fumes and soot are produced during the operation, then the engine resources and its power characteristics will decrease, and the expense, on the contrary, will increase.

Kinds

There are two main types of oil: synthetic and mineral. The latter is extracted in the process of refining. In comparison with synthetic it has a lower cost. Qualitative characteristics are also at a lower level. The properties of the oil change at high temperatures, the structure becomes less dense, there is a possibility of a breakdown of the motor.

Synthetic oil for two-stroke engines, for example, Motul Outboard, does not contain impurities that pose a danger to the mechanism, but it is distinguished by a rather high cost. It is justified by the safety and long use of the composition, since the oil retains its original characteristics even in hot weather and with intensive engine operation.

Each lubricant is suitable for different situations and needs of owners. Priorities for users can be different: someone chooses reliability, and someone wants to save money.

Additives

Despite the abundance of modern engines presented in stores, boats with mechanisms that are 30-40 years old are often found. And in efficiency they are not inferior to the new options: they provide maneuvering in dangerous, difficult areas and rapid acceleration. In this case, the resources of most of them are gradually developed, there are minute cracks in the cylinders, imperceptible to the gaze. Despite the small size, they increase noise during operation, increase fuel consumption and lead to a reduction in power.

In such situations, two-stroke oil becomes indispensable, the price of which does not exceed 600 rubles, with special additives. In comparison with lubrication, they are characterized by a higher degree of viscosity, so that the surface coated with additives becomes smoother. Due to this, the characteristics of the worn out motor are improved. Of course, sooner or later still need repair, but as a temporary measure there is no more suitable option. It is worth noting that there is an opinion that additives are harmful to the motor, but it has no basis. Quicksilver two-stroke oil with additives is optimal for an average intensity of motor use.

For each engine - its own oil

The modern range of oils is represented not only by mineral and synthetic means, but also by options for four-stroke and two-stroke engines. Not possessing sufficient knowledge, owners of two-stroke engines acquire an unsuitable two-stroke oil. Its use leads to the fact that when the piston moves its particles are stored and converted to ash. The mechanism continues its work in a large quantity of ash, which subsequently leads to serious and costly repairs. Therefore, it is strictly forbidden to use oils of inappropriate type.

It is also necessary to remember the observance of the established proportions. For operation in the standard mode, the proportions should be 50: 1 (gasoline and two-stroke oil, respectively). The new motor should be treated more cautiously and change the ratio to 25: 1.

Selection

In order not to make a mistake with the choice, you must at least read the instruction that is available on the canister with the composition, or ask for advice from a specialist. It is undesirable to purchase the first oil that has fallen into it. So it is possible to harm even the Russian unpretentious mechanism. For example, if the standard mineral oil is a two-stroke boat oil for Yamaha's complex engine, there will be no problems for the first time, but eventually the engine will often stall and the power will decrease. The reason is that after the disintegration of the mineral-type oil, a large amount of ash remains, which causes the combustion chamber to become clogged. The result is primarily a reduction in power. Also, the motor can fail if untimely cleaning and prolonged use of an unsuitable composition. Therefore, when operating a boat with a foreign engine, it is not worth saving, it is better to purchase engine oil two-stroke MANNOL or Makita for fastidious devices.

Where can I buy

It is recommended to buy oils at special outlets selling motors, boats and parts to them. You may have to pay a little more. For example, the composition MANNOL in a liter package will cost at least 400 rubles, while the market can be found for 300-350 rubles. But it is not just that many people question the origin of products sold in the markets, and its quality.

For a year, two-stroke oil is not used in such a large amount to try to save. It is better to gain confidence in the reliability of the motor and not worry during the intensive operation. When choosing the oil is recommended to carefully study the instructions and, if necessary, ask advice from consultants or experienced boaters. Also, do not forget about the existence of fakes, which are often found in unverified stores. In this case, boat trips will only bring pleasure.
