Simonov's self-loading carbine (SCS) is a worthy example of an easy-to-use, reliable and at the same time cheap enough weapon. Surprisingly, the bulk of admirers sampled in Western countries, and in particular in the United States. It was here that the SCS carbine was first improved. Tuning the basic model allows you to bring the weapon almost to perfection.

Price of issue

The cost of a self-loading Simonov carbine factory-made model is on the domestic market of about 150-200 y. E. The price varies depending on the year of release and the state in which the weapon is located. This cost allows virtually every fan of weapons to purchase a personal collection of SCS carbine. Disadvantages of the carbine of the basic assembly

As a standard, the Simonov's carbine is a weapon with a non-removable clip, quite inconvenient in use. The design uses a wooden bed, a pistol grip and a standard bayonet. All this creates not only a rather unattractive appearance, but also does not contribute to the comfortable use of the rifle.

Although the quality of processing external coatings here at a decent level, Simonov's carbine still needs improvement. In particular, the correction of position requires an butt, which is located practically on the line of the trunk. This feature has a negative effect on attempts to stabilize the barrel during the fire.

As for recharging the cage: the cartridges arriving at the receiver often wedge, and the presence of a perceptible gate delay causes users to negatively assess the SCS. Tuning allows to some extent eliminate these shortcomings.

Replacement of bed

The fact is that the carbine was originally designed for the needs of the average soldier of the middle of the last century. Muzzle brake compensator

Simonov's self-loading carbine is completed with this element first of all in order to give the product a modern exterior design similar in design to the domestic AK-74. In addition to the attractive appearance, this solution allows you to virtually get rid of the impact. Another advantage of equipping the carbine of the basic assembly with a muzzle brake-compensator is the possibility of performing firing with a dismounted bayonet.

The main disadvantage of the sausage bayonet is the reduction in the weight of the muzzle portion of the rifle and, as a result, excessive forcing of the front of the weapon during the shooting. Therefore, as an alternative to the installation of DTK, some users resort to fixing a 25-gram weigher on the barrel, which compensates for this disadvantage.

Installation of sighting devices

Modernization of SCS - tuning of the base sample - assumes the possibility of installing a collimating or optical sight. To implement the idea of the bracket for securing the sight devices are mounted with a shift to the left. However, this option in practice is not very convenient for users who are firing from the right shoulder.

An alternative solution is to install the fasteners on the movable receiver. The idea is more suitable for using a collimator sight. Well, when installing optics, you will have to forget about increasing the accuracy, because during the fire the box will create additional vibrations.

In general, the implementation of the above actions is somewhat problematic due to the ejection of the shells upwards. Difficulties can also occur when using the original clip, which is installed in the upper part of the carabiner body.

Store replacement

If it is necessary to install an optical sight, the replacement of the magazine is the first priority for users who plan to operate the SCS carbine. Tuning in this case can be made using removable (detachable) stores. To do this, it is enough to disassemble and extract the native container for the cartridges, and then place in the opening a detachable component of the western model.

It is recommended to perform the above operation with a gate delayed. In the closed position, the bolt snaps into the cheeks of the magazine. Therefore, its detachment is not possible. To solve the problem, it is necessary to cut the shutter in the area of the lower protrusions.

How realistic is it to refine the SCS carbine? Tuning of such a plan in domestic conditions is somewhat difficult, because the law prohibits any manipulation of the shutter, let alone the use of weapons by civilians with stores with a capacity of more than 10 cartridges. Therefore a good option in this situation is the installation of a shortened magazine with a capacity of 5 units, which makes it possible to give the box a more attractive smooth shape and opens the possibility for using the sighting optics.

Advantages of tuning

To the benefits of fine-tuning the SCS carbine it is necessary to attribute the following:

• Obtaining a more attractive external design;
• The ability to customize and equip weapons according to individual needs;
• Elimination of basic design deficiencies;
• The possibility of installing a sighting optics;
• Decrease in the rate of return;
• Increase the reliability of the rifle during firing.

As for the shortcomings. Unfortunately, the cost of components for performing tuning is often higher than the price of the weapon itself. And the complexity of fitting parts does not always allow you to fully implement individual tasks.

In the domestic legislation, there are many barriers to the conversion of such weapons. Although, if you want, you can always find a loophole in the administrative norms for the free operation of a modernized model.
