"Torchwood": actors and the role of the famous spin-off "Doctor Who"

"Torchwood" is a series-branch (that is, spin-off) from the "Doctor Who" Universe, the creators of which delighted fans with this work, adding it to one company with "K9" and "The Adventures of Sarah Jane." However, "Torchwood" is different from others, because this is a series for a more adult audience, and for family viewing, it will come with a stretch. However, this does not make it bad, even on the contrary: it has gained wide popularity, thanks to both the plot, and the work of the director, producers, and, of course, a smartly selected cast. The series "Torchwood", the actors of which, in fact, are the objects of consideration for this article, successfully blended into the list of the best science fiction projects of its time.

John Barrowman - Captain Jack Harkness

The role of Captain Jack Harkness is the most significant and famous in the career of John Barrowman who played it. For the first time he appears exactly in "Doctor Who" as a secondary character, but in Torchwood he got one of the main roles. John Barrowman is not for nothing that begins our list of "Torchwood": actors and roles, "because, as the showman himself and his hero - very memorable personalities.

Captain Jack Harkness is a charming, charismatic omnix. Its distinctive feature is, of course, immortality. It clearly has leadership qualities, which is why he leads the team of "Hunters for strangers" (free translation of the title of the series).

Some of his own manners and habits Barrowman transferred to his character. Well, it's hard to argue with the fact that he succeeded very successfully. "Torchwood," whose actors perfectly fit their heroes, qualitatively stands out among the rest of the spin-offs of the "doctor's" universe.

Yves Miles - Gwen Cooper

Yves Miles also appeared in Torchwood not by accident. She played a small episodic role in one series of "Doctor Who", though not her character, but his ancestor. This, in principle, is characteristic of the science-fiction universe, which includes both "Doctor" and "Torchwood": the actors intersect each other, there are several examples of "double" roles played by them.

Gwen Cooper - one of the main characters of the series. She is a former police officer, so she gets a job at Torchwood in the first episode due to the circumstances.

Gwen also has leadership qualities, but in addition, it is much more sensitive than each of the "Hunters for strangers."

Interestingly, the role of Cooper was written specifically for Yves Miles.

Bern Gorman - Owen Harper

Bern Gorman played in Owen Harper's Torchwood, a medical genius, self-confident, and at times altogether arrogant, self-willed, but a real expert in his business. Dr. Owen Harper is engaged in research, he is a difficult person, a womanizer and does not recognize any authority. Nevertheless, in the team of "Hunters for strangers" he is an irreplaceable expert.

Naoko Mori - Toshiko Sato

The character of Naoko Mori - Toshiko Sato - also appeared in one of the episodes of "Doctor Who". In addition, Mori participated in one project with Christopher Eccleston (Ninth Doctor), in which he played John Lennon, and she - his beloved Yoko Ono.

Toshiko Sato is a talented programmer and mathematician. She is calm, reasonable, but also somewhat shy and withdrawn. So, for example, she has long and quite a crush on Owen Harper, but with all her might trying to hide it.

Like everyone else, Toshiko's team was not accidental. You can say that Jack saved her by offering a job at the Torchwood Institute.

Actors (photo - above) Naoko Mori and John Barrowman, by the way, in reality, too, have become good friends, like all the other "Hunters for strangers," and long before the filming of the spin-off they performed in a musical on the West End.

Gareth David-Lloyd - Ianto Jones

Gareth David-Lloyd got the role of Ianto Jones in Torchwood. He can be called the Guardian of the Institute. The series does not specify exactly what Ianto does. Alternately, he is both the maintenance staff and the unofficial archivist, he drives the car and "cleans traces" for the team.

The character of Gareth David-Lloyd at first seems very closed, but he is capable of strong feelings, for example, to his beloved Liza, with whom a tragic story occurred. In addition, he has a close relationship with his superior, Captain Jack Harkness. For their development can be observed throughout the series.
