The importance of the forest for the modern man. Causes of the disappearance of forests

The forest is an important part of our planet. It is not only home to numerous animals and birds, but also affects people's lives.

What is the forest for modern man ?

What does the word "forest" mean? Everyone knows from childhood that it is a lot of different trees, which are quite tightly to each other. It's nice to relax and enjoy the fresh air. But in reality it is a real ecosystem with many inhabitants that depend on each other. There are harmoniously cooperating plants with insects, animals, birds and even bacteria. They occupy a significant part of the entire land and extend to 40 million square kilometers!

There are three types of forests: coniferous, deciduous and mixed. From the territory on which they grow, their character depends. In temperate latitudes, deciduous trees shed their greens with the arrival of cold weather. But in the humid and hot parts of the Earth this does not happen, and the forest remains lush from year to year. Evergreen trees on the planet most of all, and they produce the bulk (80%) of oxygen for the whole earth. Such indicators confirm the importance of forests for modern man.

Direct impact on people

The forest performs many functions that a person constantly uses. In addition to maintaining the environment, it remains an important natural resource. But first of all the importance of the forest for the modern man is conditioned by its participation in the process of photosynthesis. Without it, it would not be possible to produce oxygen, and life on Earth would stop.

In addition, it is worth considering that today, thanks to technical progress, the world has stepped forward. But it is because of this that the air is filled with chemical vapors and pollution. Vegetation is struggling with these phenomena and absorbs some of the emissions, which is why the value of the forest for modern man today is invaluable. Also, the energy of trees can influence the human psyche in a positive way.

Indirect influence

Also, the forest is reflected in the water regime of the territory on which it grows and is located near it. The soil in this area has a special "litter", which is able to purify the liquid that has passed through it. The forest gives purified water, in which the bacteria content is reduced to about 70%.

Also, the importance of the forest for a modern person is that it can mitigate the climate. In the places where it grows, during droughts or dry winds, trees reduce this disastrous effect. Thanks to such protection, agricultural crops remain, which otherwise would have been destroyed by the weather. Forest plantations have another positive impact: they protect the soil from the occurrence of landslides, mudflows or other geological hazards.

Forest resources and their application

But the importance of the forest for modern man is not limited only to its influence on the environment. His wealth is many resources. In addition to wood, people receive valuable vegetation, which is used in pharmaceutics, cosmetology or cooking. In total, from forest materials a person receives about 30 thousand varieties of all kinds of products.

The most common thing obtained from forest resources is paper. It produces magazines, notebooks, books, napkins, cardboard, textiles and building materials. The beginning of the forest for a modern man is very important. Without these resources, even simple paper would be considered a huge deficit.

Today, there are hydrolysis plants on which paints, silk, alcohol, plastic, foodstuffs and much more are made from wood material. Among other things, wood is fuel.

Disappearance of forests

So, what does the forest mean for a modern person and how closely is it intertwined with our lives? Growth of the population and its needs are reflected in the fact that the number of logging is increasing regularly. Scientists have made a calculation and found out that the average person spends 100 cubic meters in his life. Wood.

To meet the needs of mankind, deforestation is carried out . But, in addition to this reason, there are other factors that lead to the death of vegetation. This includes targeted clearance of territories for construction and pasture. Also there is a cutting down of places where there are deposits of underground fossils. In addition, often there are fires, from which hundreds of hectares of forest perish. Annually, the planet loses about 13 million hectares of vital vegetation. After such intervention, the forest is not restored. The reason for this is people's activities. In the liberated areas, "grow up" the city, or these plantations are used for farming. Today, this problem is being discussed on a global scale. It is known that about 80% of all animals live in tropical forests, which are subject to special destruction. If it is not stopped, deforestation will not only affect the disappearance of rare species of fauna and flora, but also the viability of mankind as a whole.
