History of creation

The first domestic diesel truck "Ural-4320" was produced at the Ural Automobile Plant in 1977. On its basis in late 1983 began to produce a new model - "Ural-5557".

In early 1982, the Food Program of the USSR was adopted. It included many measures of the logistical, economic, social and organizational plan that were aimed at solving the food problem in the country.

New heavy-duty dump trucks of increased cross-country capacity were designed to perform transport-technological functions in agricultural production conditions.

"Ural-5557" was created primarily for agriculture. The chassis with a standard standard triple cab without a berth was initially completed with a 10.5 sq. M. Self-dumping platform. M and a maximum volume of 17.5 cu. M, and then on it began to mount special equipment.

The dumping platform is fastened to the subframe with quick-release couplings.

The dumper platform was a new constructive solution for that time. The unloading process could take place on the right and left sides. The sides when the platform was raised reclined automatically, and the load did not get under the wheels when unloading. The sides were closed with hydraulic cylinders, which were controlled by the driver from the cabin. The platform was fitted with a visor and extra boards, which automatically opened and closed. Extension boards were designed to fully utilize the load capacity of the truck, if it was necessary to transport agricultural products with a low specific gravity. The bump cap reduced the load loss during unloading.

For increased cross-country capability in combination with a ground clearance of 36 cm and all driving wheels on the chassis, wheels with a low and wide rubber profile were installed. A feature of this car was the centralized adjustment of tire pressure in the range from 1 to 3.5 atmosphere. "Ural-5557" can move on impassability, snow, ice, mud and swampy terrain, overcome water obstacles, the depth of which reaches 0.7 m. The maximum angle of ascent on rough terrain is 40 °.

Platform Management System

The vehicle's dump truck and trailer are controlled by a sophisticated hydraulic system. It includes a three-stage telescopic cylinder, a hydraulic cylinder lifting the sides, a tank into which 46 liters of working fluid can be poured, a distribution unit that controls the lifting of the platform, and hydraulic trains for controlling the trailer.

The tilting platform can be tilted to the right and left by 45 degrees with side unloading.

Management of both the platform and the trailer from the cabin is one of the features that distinguishes the car "Ural-5557".

Specifications

The dump truck was so well designed that it can travel at a speed of 2 km / h with the combine harvester during harvesting and develop a maximum speed of 75 km / h with a full load of up to 18 tons (7 in the body and 11.5 tons in the trailer ) And its own distributed mass of 4.3 tons per front axle and 12 tons per rear trolley. When the speed of a heavy truck reaches 40 km / h, the stopping distance is a little over 17 meters. The pneumohydraulic dual-circuit braking system is designed for separate braking of the front and rear axles.

The car is equipped with a turbocharged six-cylinder diesel engine YaMZ-236NE2 or YAMZ-236M2 with a capacity of 230 liters. from. And 240 hp. respectively.

Two-disk clutch in the transmission, a five-speed manual gearbox with a gear ratio of 7.32, in the construction of bridges a two -speed transfer case and a unified dual main gear, front and rear suspension - dependent springs with shock absorbers - allow to install on the chassis a variety of technological options.

Advantages of the Ural-5557 car

The technical characteristics of the heavy truck allowed, with minor improvements, to collect on its base not only dump truck, but also truck crane equipment, tank trucks and tankers, shift buses and repair shops, units for oil and timber industry, road construction. The former dumper for agriculture has become a multi-purpose universal car. New modifications retain all the advantages of the original model:

- high permeability without great destructive impact on the ground due to wide-profile tires with a centralized air regulation system;

- high traction in heavy field and road conditions;

- unification of units and assemblies, allowing to reduce the costs of production, operation and maintenance;

- operation in the temperature range from -45 ° C to +45 ° C.

Another advantage is the generator circuit: the Ural-5557 car is equipped with an alternating current generator with an integrated rectifier unit and a contactless voltage regulator that has stable characteristics and a long service life.

Major modifications

In more than thirty years of operation, in addition to the basic model, the Ural-5557 cars were also produced in various versions. This is the basic chassis "5557-1151-40", on which various equipment is installed, and a car with a two-door cabin with a berth "55571-1551-44", and an all-terrain vehicle with a comfortable cabin of large volume and a sprung seat with the numbers of modifications 1-48 , 58 and 59.

Specialists of the plant continue to work on the car "Ural-5557".

Technical characteristics of cars with indexes 60, 70 and 80 and new engines YaMZ-536, YaMZ-65654 and YAMZ-353622 pass according to the modern Euro-4 standard.

Classics was the crane KS-55713-3K, installed on the base chassis.

For the internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, an armored special vehicle "Federal-42590" was built on the chassis "5557-1". It has powerful engines, it is characterized by increased cross-country capacity and large carrying capacity. This special vehicle can withstand up to 6 kg of TNT.

Tipper modifications

Dumpers of various modifications can work with trailers that have pneumatic and electrical leads, pneumatic drive of the brake system, total weight up to 11.5 tons, equipped with terminals for connection to the hydraulic system of the chassis. The main trailer, for which the tractor is "Ural-5557", is a biaxial trailer GKB-8551 with hydraulic tipping mechanism connected to the hydraulic system of the tractor.

The basic modification "Ural-5557-40" has a two-door cab and body platform, which can be unloaded on three sides. "Ural" with the insulated sides is capable of carrying up to 12 tons of cargo protected by a tent, which is very important for grain carriers.

The modification "55571-40" is a car with a sleeping place, a dump truck with only a rear discharge. A dump truck with a payload capacity of 10 tons is designed to work on construction sites and harvesting operations. It carries sand, gravel, soil, construction debris.

The modification "55571-41" has a larger cabin with four doors.

Automobile-based fire fighting vehicles

TTX fire trucks "Ural 5557" with a total weight of up to 17.5 tons allow you to approach the site of ignition even in full off-road, developing speed while driving up to 80 km / h.

On the chassis "557-1151-40" for the departments of fire protection a car of diagnostics was created.

On the base chassis the tanker of mark AC-5,5-40 or АЦ-6-40 is going to. This car is designed to deliver a stock of water with a volume of 3000 liters and foam to the place of extinguishing the fires and feeding them to the fire, evacuation of people, carrying out and lighting rescue operations, disassembling the rubble with a crane.

On "5557-1151-70" install a fire pumping station, which delivers to the place of fire a combat calculation of three people, fire and technical weapons, and supplies water and foam. The pump compartment with two pumps, each equipped with the same basic engine, has a separate fuel tank with a capacity of 210 liters and is heated by an autonomous diesel heater. The car "Ural-5557", whose characteristics do not get worse over the years, and today, despite its venerable age, deservedly is a classic of the Ural Automobile Plant and continues its hard work in the open spaces of Russia with the proud name "the king of roads".
