Tendovaginitis is a disease of people of art

Tendovaginitis is a disease that affects the middle part of the tendons located in the tendon sheaths. The latter serve to facilitate the sliding of the ligaments and represent something like a bag. The disease affects nearby tissue - tendons and their vaginas, as well as ligament canals.

Most often occurs tendovaginitis of the wrist and ankle. The difficulty of sliding occurs because the tendons and synovial vaginas thicken. The disease is acute and chronic, as well as infectious, non-infectious and brucellosis.

Types of tendovaginitis

Acute infectious tendovaginitis is a disease that develops after a vaginal injury and getting into the infection. Because of the accumulation of pus, the blood supply of the tendon is disturbed and causes pain. Chronic infectious tendovaginitis is an ailment that develops due to the entry of a specific microflora into the synovial membranes - it can be a tubercle bacillus or spirochetes. First, the membranes are affected, then the inflammation passes to the tendons. Brucellosis tendovaginitis is also found - it is a disease similar in nature to acute infectious. In this case, the extensor tendons are affected, which leads to a gradual restriction of the movement of the fingers. There is also non-infectious (aseptic) tendovaginitis, which develops due to permanent microtraumas (typists, musicians, etc.) or because of bruises and sprains of the joint.

The causes of tendovaginitis

Infectious tendovaginitis occurs due to inflammation of the joints, because of infectious diseases (syphilis, tuberculosis, etc.), because of rheumatism, rheumatoid arthritis. The noninfectious form arises because of constant monotonous movements, in which a certain group of persons takes part. The risk group includes skiers, skaters, typists, musicians, etc.

Symptomatics

With acute infectious tendovaginitis, the body temperature rises, there are sharp pains in the area of localization of the disease, puffiness. As a rule, all this is observed on the back of the hands or feet, also in some cases on the fingers. In addition, the movement may be disturbed. Chronic tenosynovitis manifests itself in a slow increase in swelling in the area of the lesion, minor pain, limited mobility.

Also, during palpation, fluctuations are detected (formations in the form of rice grains). Non-infectious tendovaginitis causes pain in the joints, crunching and swelling. It should be noted that this disease affects not only the wrists and ankles, but also the tensodiginitis of the forearm.

Treatment

Hospitalization is required for therapy. Treatment involves surgical intervention, during which the vagina of the tendon is opened to remove the inflammatory product, sanitize the cavity. In the event that it comes to necrosis of the tendon, its resection is required. As an additional remedy, the massage of the affected joints showed itself well. Take care of yourself and be well!
