Spiritual and moral education of younger schoolchildren is necessary

Many parents approach to raising children very responsibly. Sports and developmental activities, health care, musical and aesthetic education. And there are parents who put spiritual and moral upbringing of junior schoolchildren first, sometimes even at the expense of additional education. Is it justified? What is spiritual and moral upbringing, what goals does it pursue?

What is morality is clear to everyone: it is a person's reference point to his conscience, a desire to do what is good for people's concepts and not do what is bad. Any adult will agree that it is necessary for a child to explain what can be done and what is not and why. It is often said that basic education is imitation of parents. This is true, the child does take an example with the members of his family, trying to correspond to its general level. But without a theory, you still can not do it: why did my mother decide to help one person and refused to another? Can I skip school and say I was sick? Is it possible to write a homework from a resharek? And why all this can be done or not. Different parents will give different explanations, the concepts received by the child will also be different. The goal of moral education of younger schoolchildren is to develop attention to one's own conscience and desire to act in accordance with it.

But the term "spiritual" is not always clear. What it is? Religious education is usually considered spiritual. Russian philosophers of the 19th century believed that man is threefold: body, soul and spirit. In this case it is very easy to determine what the educational methods are: sports, health and hygiene skills are the habits of the body, music and visual arts, love of literature and good education are the soul, and religious aspirations are the spirit. Therefore, the spiritual and moral education of junior schoolchildren is, above all, religious upbringing. Often the phrase "religious education" is somewhat frightening. There are associations with the bursa or the monastic shelter. In fact, religious education does not carry anything threatening, but it can only be given by believing parents.

Spiritual and moral education of junior schoolchildren is carried out in Sunday schools, in families and in Orthodox camps. What does it include in itself? Is it possible to impose one's faith on a child? Teach him to pray and communicate with God? Indeed, it seems that this should all be a person's personal choice. But the choice can only be made when you have information, so studying the Sacred History, attending church services, constantly talking with parents about the commandments of God, are the elements of that same spiritual upbringing. The choice really needs to be provided, but it will already be in the child in adolescence and adolescence. In any case, moral and spiritual upbringing of junior schoolchildren is carried out in the family. If parents are atheists, they give their children appropriate education, if they are indifferent to religion or, in fact, are pagans, they give their children the appropriate worldview.

Children need spiritual guidance, so they take them from their parents. Well, if the concepts that the children eventually learn are logical and moral, and this is most often the case when the spiritual and moral education of junior schoolchildren is carried out by religious people.
