Silvering of the teeth and the advantages of holding it for babies

Caries affects not only permanent, but also baby teeth of babies. And their treatment causes much more problems and concerns. To prevent this problem from becoming everyday, and visiting the dentist does not bring so many worries and troubles, parents should take care of the healthy oral cavity of their children as soon as possible.

One of the methods of treatment and prevention of caries is the silvering of the milk teeth. The use of this method allows to stop the development of caries at its initial stage, when the dark spot only had time to form. The application of the technique allows you to save the child from the "torture" drill, which the kids are beginning to fear from childhood.

Silvering teeth is the use of a 30% solution of silver nitrate, which is applied to the tooth and creates a protective film on it. Previously, the use of the drug was fraught with the fact that it could penetrate deep into the dental tissue, damage the pulp. To date, the latest developments can avoid this side effect, since they also contain fluoride.

Silvering teeth in children helps to create insoluble salts on the tooth surface, which, long covering the caries stain, actively destroy bacteria and reduce the amount of plaque formed. This helps to protect against destruction not only hard dental tissues, but also soft dentin. Therefore, this procedure is recommended to be carried out in small children, whose milk teeth have not yet been replaced by permanent teeth.

At the heart of its silvering of teeth is aimed at treating old caries and preventing new ones. As a rule, the technique is used only for the treatment of baby teeth, because as a result of its application, the teeth become dark in color. It's not so scary in this situation, because these teeth are replaced by permanent ones. But on the last such a defect does not look very nice.

Silvering teeth has several positive sides:

  1. One of the main advantages of the procedure is that it is carried out quickly and painlessly. Therefore, it can be used even for the treatment of the first teeth of the youngest children, who can not stay in one place for a long time.
  2. The method is safe for the life and health of the child, because silver is a non-toxic metal, it has only a positive effect on the body (its ions have an antibacterial effect).
  3. The procedure helps not only to stop the development of caries, but also to protect the baby teeth from its further occurrence until they change into permanent teeth.
  4. The technique is relatively inexpensive to use.

However, silvering teeth has several disadvantages of application, and our task is to acquaint you with them:

  1. Teeth after this procedure permanently acquire a dark color (before they drop out). Therefore, it is advisable to apply this technique only to dairy, and not to permanent teeth.
  2. If the silvering is done poorly, it will not bring any positive results. It is necessary to visit the dentist regularly (3-4 times a year).
  3. If the tooth is already destroyed, this procedure will not help in its restoration.

The essence of the method is extremely simple - it is necessary for a few minutes to rub the damaged area of the tooth with a tampon moistened in a solution of silver. It is checked that almost every child calmly and patiently endures carrying out this procedure. Silvering is not carried out at a time. It should be repeated several times, and their number is prescribed by the doctor strictly individually. As a rule, it is recommended to repeat the procedure 4 times a day or daily. During the year, two such courses must be completed.

If you strictly adhere to the order, it is very likely that the baby will not have problems with his teeth for a long time.
