The service life of the sewage system directly depends on the quality of its assembly. However, even its high-quality installation does not fully guarantee the absence of an emergency situation, which requires urgent repairs.

When is it necessary to repair sewage systems?

We suggest considering the situation with sewerage, which require urgent intervention:

• Clogging;
• Flow of pipes at the joints;
• The appearance of cracks, accompanied by the spread of a rather unpleasant odor.

Formation of clogging

The most common household problem is the clogging of the siphon washing, which occurs in connection with the accumulation of debris. Small clogs can be eliminated using a plunger. This is done in the following way: install the air vent over the drain hole and several vertical movements force the resulting garbage stopper to move. Next, it is necessary to remove the outlet plug with a head of water.

There are blockages of pipes and more serious. In these cases, instead of the plunger, certain chemicals are used, available on the shelves of almost all household chemical shops. In fact, they are solvents that break down the plugs. Before using, be sure to read the rules for their use.

If these methods have been undertaken and the sewage system has been repaired, and the drainage system still works poorly, it is necessary to look for a deeper clogging. To remove it, you will need to use a piercing cable, which is injected into the hole in the riser provided for such situations in advance, or the place where the sink is connected to the sink.

Leaking pipes at joints

The repair of sewerage in this one primarily involves finding the place of leakage. One of the reasons may be the presence of a fuzzy connection at the boundary between the siphon and the drain hole or between the entrance to the pipe and the siphon.

To solve the problem, investigate the place of connection, where a leak is observed, check the gasket (replace if necessary).

It is more difficult to repair the sewage system, if a joint leak is observed between the details of cast-iron pipes. Its removal depends on the way the pipes are connected. It can be lead or cement.

If the joint is cement, proceed as follows:

• Get rid of the old cement using a hammer and chisel;
• Get rid of the old stuffing, clean the gap;
• Hammer a new layer of resin-coated strands of sealant and cover with cement mortar.

If the joint is struck with lead, repair the sewerage in the following sequence:

• Clean the bonding layer to the metal;
• Make a new seal by hammering lead into the cracks with the help of a blunt chisel.

Cracks on the pipe

The crack that formed on the body of the pipe, is eliminated only for a while. In subsequent operation, it inevitably will increase, which in time will lead to an accident. Therefore, it is better to immediately repair the sewage system with the replacement of the pipe.

The mechanism for temporary troubleshooting depends on the pipe material. If they are polymeric, the crack is carefully covered with sealant and wrapped with adhesive tape. This will get rid of the unpleasant odor.

To eliminate defects in cast-iron pipes, perform the following actions:

• Expand the crack and treat it with a special degreasing agent;
• Prepare a mixture consisting of copper oxide and phosphoric acid (ratio 1.5 to 1);
• Cover the formed crack with the mixture obtained. It is necessary to do this quickly enough, since the composition is set very quickly.
