Puppet Theater (Belgorod): history, repertoire, troupe

The Belgorod State Puppet Theater was established in the middle of the 20th century. Initially, his repertoire included performances for children only. Today, there are performances not only for young spectators, but also for the adult audience.

About the theater

Puppet Theater (Belgorod) was opened in 1962. At first it was a small studio, directed by A.Shikova. After 4 years, the regional puppet theater was established on its base. It was headed by MI Annushkin. He was then called the "New Theater for Children." The first performance that was staged here is "Malchish-Kibalchish".

In 1972, N. Danilova became the main director of the theater. The most famous of her staged performances is "Buka". He did not leave the stage for 25 years. N. Danilova is also known for the fact that young people without theater education took part in the troupe, but with clearly expressed talents. She herself turned them into beautiful actors and clever puppeteers.

For the first 10 years the puppet theater (Belgorod) did not have its own building. Artists huddled in a tiny room, and all the performances were working on other people's venues. In fact, the theater was traveling. On the plight of puppeteers of Belgorod was even filmed the plot by the film magazine "Wick". After the footage was shown on television, the building for the theater began.

In 1975, Nekrasov Street was ready to accept actors into the new premises. In 1976, the premiere of a new play was held in the walls of its own building. The building was designed by the architect V. Limarenko. The auditorium is designed for 230 seats. The stage is very well equipped. The building has all the necessary premises and workshops for theater work. For artists created comfortable make-up rooms.

The eighties were a difficult period in the life of the theater. Heads and main directors at this time very often changed. No one stayed long.

In 1983, a tradition was born in the theater - every year in December to release New Year's performances. At the same time, the troupe replenished with graduates of theatrical schools.

In 2004 N.Odintsov was appointed to the post of the main director. He served here since 1971 as an actor. The main director of the theater, Nikolai Mikhailovich stayed only 4 years. In 2008, he suddenly died.

In the years 2006-2008, The theater was subjected to major repair. Many of the rooms in its course were reconstructed. The technical equipment of the stage has been replaced by a modern one that meets the requirements of the present time. Thanks to this, the theater was able to raise the level of its productions, change the repertoire and include more complex performances.

Since 2009, the artistic director of puppeteers is Natalia Repina. Before that, she headed the theater in Yakutia and was awarded the title of Honored Worker of Culture of the Republic of Sakha.

Today there are about fifty productions in the repertoire of the theater. Actors actively tour, take part in competitions and festivals. Each season, the audience is presented with the premiere of new productions. Now the repertoire is designed not only for children, but also for the adult age category.

The theater also cooperates with directors and artists from other troupes with different world views.

Puppeteers of Belgorod honor traditions and preserve them. At the same time, they set new goals, they are not alien to modern forms of interaction with the viewer. They are looking for ways to talk with the public in a language that is understandable to them.

In addition to performances, the troupe also implements various interesting projects.

The theater makes a very great contribution to the spiritual and moral education of the younger generation, as well as to their creative and aesthetic education. For this the troupe was awarded with prizes and awards from the regional department of culture.
