What sea is Turkey washing from the north, west and south?

What seas wash Turkey? The map shows that the country is surrounded by water from three sides, and only in the east it has land borders. In this sense, the state is clearly lucky, because the presence of huge water areas, and even located in the subtropical climatic zone, contributes to the development of beach resorts. All ponds belong to the Atlantic Ocean. What does it mean? That, as it were, winding and far from these Atlantic seas, they have a connection with it.

Briefly, it is possible to say which seas wash Turkey: Black, Marble, Aegean and Mediterranean. Total - four. But each of them has its own character, climatic features, salinity, species composition of flora and fauna. Some of them have clear outlines, because they are separated from other water areas by narrow straits. But the border between the Aegean and Mediterranean seas is difficult to determine. Difficult, but possible. When you look at the map, it seems that the west and south of Turkey is washed by only one water area. However, the salinity, density and temperature of the water in these two seas are different. Therefore, if you go to the resorts of Marmaris or Dalaman, you can see a unique sight: a clear line on the water surface separating the Aegean Sea from the Mediterranean. But let's not run ahead. What sea is Turkey washed from the north? The Turks call it Kara-deniz. In translation, this sounds exactly the same as it is customary to call it: Black Sea. But the ancient Greeks, who once plowed its expanse in search of new fertile lands, called it Pontus Euxine - The Unwilling, The Inhospitable Sea. We, modern tourists, visiting the beaches of the Crimea or the Caucasus coast in the summer months, it is difficult to understand this. But you would have seen it in the winter! Then it looks black. And unfriendly, by the way, too. Its salinity and temperature is the lowest in comparison with other water areas in Turkey. However, even here there are resorts, although not as "untwisted" as on other coasts: the Horde, Kars, the city of Trabzon.

What sea is Turkey washing further south? It is called Marble, named after the island, on which, from ancient times, this valuable stone was mined. The water area is small, therefore there are few resorts here: Yalova, famous for its thermal springs, Tekirdag and the island of Turkel, famous for its sandy beaches, the ancient city of Bandirma. But in the Marmara Sea there is also the great Istanbul. As is known, the Bosphorus and Dardanelles cross the border between Europe and Asia, and these are the Straits that connect the Sea of Marmara with the Black Sea and the Aegean Sea.

Go ahead. What sea is Turkey washing from the west? Aegean. It is also called White because of the color of the water. Here scattered a lot of islands, why in ancient times this water area was called the Sea of the Archipelago. It is warmer than the Marble, but colder than the Mediterranean. At the resorts of Fethiye, Kusadasi, Izmir and Marmaris have a good rest in summer - the western trade winds bring freshness and help to endure the Turkish heat.

Most tourists visiting the country, to the question "What sea is Turkey washing?" Without hesitation answer: Mediterranean! And this is not surprising, because on the shores of this giant water area are the main resorts, which are all heard: Antalya, Alanya, Belek, Side, Kemer. It is the warmest and the most salty. "Medi-terania" - "between the earth" - so you can translate the international name of this water area. It washes the shores of Europe, Africa and Asia and includes the Tyrrhenian, Ionian, Adriatic and other seas . It is closest to the ocean: enough to pass the Strait of Gibraltar - and you are already in the Atlantic!
