History of the theater

Theater them. Gorky (Simferopol) was founded in 1920 by a great admirer of theatrical art merchant Volkov. He rented a huge barn and staged plays based on works by such dramatists as Sumarokov, Fonvizin and Ozerov. The shed was rebuilt several times.

In 1873 it was destroyed, and in its place was built a real theater room for 410 seats. Since 1888 the theater was called the Simferopol noble theater. Since 1920, he was renamed the First Soviet Theater. Social life developed actively within its walls, discussions were held, outstanding people with their ideas performed.
