Perm Puppet Theater: history, repertoire, troupe, reviews

Perm Puppet Theater exists since the beginning of the 20th century. His repertoire includes not only children's plays, but also productions for adults. Also there are various concerts.

History of the theater

The Perm puppet theater was established in 1937. Initially it was a very small troupe. The first performance of the theater was a fairy tale "By the Pike's Command."

The troupe of 22 years led a nomadic way of life and did not have its own site. The artists got their own building in 1959. It is a monument of architecture created according to the project of O. Karvovski. It was built to hold prisoners. It was a transit prison, under the Soviet government, known as the "correctional home". Here was a room with cells for prisoners, a bathhouse, a bakery, various workshops, a laundry, a garden, shops, a hospital, etc. There were representatives of parties, revolutionaries, dekulakized people and enemies of the people.

In 1957-58 the building was rebuilt for a theater. Architects from Leningrad participated in the construction. Sergei Obraztsov and the production section of his theater helped build and equip the stage for the Perm puppeteers. Initially puppeteers were forced to share this room with the Young Spectators. But soon they remained his only masters.

The first performance of Perm in the new building was the play "Devil's Mill".

In the 80 years the main director of the theater was IV Ignatiev. Thanks to him, the productions acquired a bright imaginative solution, they became more professional and modern. His work was repeatedly noted by critics. Today IV Ignatiev lives and works in St. Petersburg, is the head of the theater "Fairy Tale".

Today, two halls - Small and Large - have a Perm puppet theater. The poster offers performances for kids, schoolchildren, young people and adults.

From 1995 to 2013 the theater was directed by Igor Nesonovich Ternavsky. With him, many new and very interesting performances appeared in the repertoire. Thanks to this, the theater has a wider audience, and there are many more fans.

Since September 2014, the post of art director was taken by the director Alexander Vitalievich Yanushkevich. For many years now he has been the producer of plays in the Minsk Puppet Theater. Alexander Vitalievich is a multiple nominee for the Golden Mask Award and has repeatedly won various festivals, including international ones.

"The Snow Queen"

This season the Perm puppet theater presented several premieres to the public. One of them is the fairy tale Snow Queen. The premiere took place on December 19. The play was directed by A. Yanushkevich.

This is a story about loyalty, friendship and sensitivity to others, about good and evil. The fact that eternity is the salvation of the soul. And in order to find the true meaning for this word, you need to be honest, sensitive, bold, loving, like Gerda.

The performance is interesting not only for children, but also for adults. It consists of seven paintings. It successfully combines dolls of different sizes, visuals and a living plan of actors dressed in outlandish, bright costumes.

The play was created in order to make the audience a bit kinder and wiser.

Reviews

The Perm puppet theater reviews from its viewers are mostly positive. The audience writes that the performances are interesting not only to children, but also to their parents. The theater gives pleasure not only to small, but also to its large spectators. Many productions use modern technologies and unusual solutions.

The actors play their roles remarkably. Very much it is pleasant to spectators, that often in performances near to dolls there is also a live plan.

The theater has a great repertoire. There are performances for all ages and for every taste. And before the New Year there are Christmas trees where children are congratulated by Santa Claus and Snow Maiden, where they are given a good mood and gifts, and fairy-tale characters play interesting games with them.

But there are also such spectators who write that the quality of some performances leaves much to be desired. Among the minuses is also noted the fact that the building needs repair.

In general, the residents of the city are proud of their theater and everyone recommends visiting it. More than one generation of Perm people has been raised in his productions.
