If you saw how a polished moth crawls through a cupboard or wall, then, killing her, deprive the lives of a hundred future insects, but do not protect your wardrobe. In general, this applies to all butterflies, because insects that look like a moth are not a moth, and they do not eat clothes!

It is curious that the close relatives of the creatures we are discussing are living in bushes of roses, inside apples and even ... in the hoofs of buffalo! Of course, this is not about the butterflies themselves, but about their caterpillars, which cause enormous material damage to a person.

Caterpillars fairly spoil us not only clothes, but also nerves ... Hardly having appeared on light, they start construction of own small house - tubules. The building material for this is fast-hardening silk threads. They stretch from the mouth of the caterpillar, which is provided with certain spinning glands. When the silk house is ready, then it is disguised from the outside with the help of wool, bitten by this creature from our fur coats and jackets, on which she settled. And now we turn to what, strictly speaking, the moth is dangerous.

The insect begins to destroy the wool. For 3 months of its fruitful life this creature becomes heavier than its original weight 400 times! She is afraid to leave far from her home, so when clothes do not leave a living place, she simply lengthens her tube. If the new fabric does not like the caterpillar, it will move to another place. No wonder they say that a moth is an insect with a character! This "journey" is very slow. The caterpillar creates a semblance of a ladder, attaching a silk thread to the right, then to the left and crossing it. By the way, clean clothes do not interest any caterpillars at all! Give her only stained with stains of food and sweat suits!

Continuing the theme of the inverse character of this insect, it should be noted that the moth is a pampered creature. She hates heat, cold and light. Therefore, fur coats and other clothes, while they are worn, do not threaten anything. And only in the summer, when we send such things as uselessness to the closet, the moth begins to act! Therefore, any clothing that is at rest for a long period should be stored in sealed bags.
