A great kamar, who is he - an innocuous creature or a monster?

Of course, all the big kamars were met. If such a "helicopter" flies into the house, many are frightened, considering them very dangerous, although of all types of insects these are the most innocuous. So who are they, these monsters?

The biggest kamar on the planet is a caramor, or a long-legged mosquito. It occurs in forests with high humidity. It feels equally great both in a temperate climate and in North Africa. Caramor itself is essentially harmless in nature, as it does not bite either animals or man. Mostly we see males that feed on nectar. But its larvae, eating vegetarian food, can cause serious damage to crops.

A large gum is a caramore - it does not have such a giant size. His body is from 2 mm to 6 cm, there are specimens reaching 10 cm. But because this insect has unusually long legs, it seems that it is much larger.

Another big kamar is a jerk. His name was due to the fact that he often twitches his forelegs. People even breed this insect, or rather, its larvae - butterflies, which go to feed aquarium fish. In nature, a large kamar-dergun lays eggs in wetlands, there, buried in mud, they develop, turning into larvae. If you collect water and soil from the bottom of a standing lake, then drain and rinse, you can always find a certain number of bloodworms. It goes to feed not only domestic fish, but also the inhabitants of reservoirs.

Komar-dergun lays eggs in a special semi-transparent jelly-like cocoon. In form it is different: round, oblong, long, like a cord. It depends on where the female is going to attach it, so that it is not washed away by the current, and the larvae could get to the bottom and have time to dig in before they become food for the fish. The larva that emerges from the egg is colorless, greenish and reddish in color as it grows, after molting.

The bloodworm is adapted for life in water. He can swim, wriggling his whole body like a snake. The process of breathing takes place in two ways. He has a respiratory organ that looks like a gill and is located in the caudal part of the body, he breathes them when he turns into a pupa, in addition, he is able to absorb air with the entire surface. The larva has a red color due to the fact that the blood contains hemoglobin.

Despite the apparent primitiveness, the bloodworm is a very interesting creation. He lives and develops at the bottom of the lakes, but moves not just like that, but in special pipes, which he himself builds from mud, grains of sand and pebbles, connecting them with saliva. The larva sits in a tube, periodically sticking out the "head", that part of the body where the mouth is, rummages and searches for nutritious particles. All this is a way to live up to the status of an adult. If you do not take precautions, you can become an easy prey for the inhabitants of the lake.

The pupal of the bloodworm does the same in the tube, exposing some kind of gills that absorb oxygen. A large kamar-dergun comes out to the surface with the help of air. The process resembles the ascent of a bathyscaphe, the pupa rushes upwards, under pressure it collapses, and the jerk, straightening its wings, soars.
