Lily royal, plant-symbol

In the Christian religion, the royal lily is a symbol of the Virgin Mary, and the flower of this plant is found on the arms of the richest families living in different countries. People admire its tropical beauty, and grace gives the right to a variety called royal.

Site Selection

This type of bulbous plant is grown in the open ground or in winter in greenhouses. Lily is not afraid of frost, can grow up to 120 cm tall. White fragrant flowers are brushes, where they contain up to 20 pieces. The site on which the royal lily will be located must be protected from strong wind, and it must be well lit. The earth should be fertile, loose, absorb moisture well.

Timing and landing

Some varieties of these flowers grow on soils that have a neutral reaction. Place seedlings in the ground can be in autumn and spring. When the earth well wakes, the royal lily lands. Usually it happens in the second half of April. Germs from frost can be protected with straw or hay. You can plant flowers of this variety in the period from August to early September. Before putting them into the ground, in 15-20 days it is necessary to prepare a site. For this purpose, humus, peat and ash, as well as a small amount of mineral fertilizers, are introduced into the digging . Then the site should be loosened, leveled, poured and left for a while, before planting flowers.

Layout scheme

Bulbs that have flowers of large sizes are planted 20 cm apart and between rows, and smaller ones - 10-15 cm. Royal lily does not require complex care. The plant needs to be fed, watered, weeded, loosened the ground. For this variety, moistened soil is needed, so the flower should be watered in the morning and in the daytime under the root, without getting a stream of water on the leaves. Loosening the ground, too, must be done with great care and not very deep, so that damage to the roots located at the surface does not occur.

Plant nutrition

Lilies are fed several times during the growing season. The first time fertilizers are introduced in the early spring, after the snow has melted. Top dressing is done with mineral and organic fertilizers containing nitrogen. Flowers must mulch. For this, peat or a humus layer equal to 5-6 cm is applied to the soil around the plant.

Royal lily perfectly absorbs potassium fertilizers, as well as ash, which is brought 3-4 times for vegetation. The second time the soil is enriched with ammonium nitrate when the buds appear in the plant, and in July the plants are fertilized with phosphorus and potassium. For a better bloom next year, you can remove a few buds.

Autumn care

The royal lily, the photo of which is presented above, can be in one place for 4-5 years, then the plants must be transplanted, because the soil is depleted due to the depletion of the flowers. In autumn, cut off the upper part of the plant, leaving a penechki height of 20 cm. Then the roots are filled with dry leaves or humus, after which it is desirable to put lapnik. With the onset of spring shelter is removed before the shoots appeared.
