Laser retina coagulation

In ophthalmology, laser coagulation is a rather popular procedure used for vascular lesions of the eye, tumors, as well as for retinal dystrophy. The presented therapeutic method allows to prevent development of atrophic and dystrophic processes in tissues. Laser retinal depolarization is performed on an outpatient basis. This procedure takes about twenty minutes. After the manipulations, the patient returns home and continues to lead his usual life.

Laser coagulation: the principle of action

In the laser zone, the temperature rises sharply, which causes the folding of the tissue proteins. Thanks to this method, the operation is bloodless. Laser coagulation is a highly effective and highly accurate method that is used to connect the vascular membrane of the eye with the retina. The operation is controlled by an experienced technician using a microscope. All manipulations are performed under local anesthesia, which means that the body does not lend itself to excessive stressful influences. Laser coagulation Is effective in macular degeneration, angiomatosis, diabetic retinopathy.

The presented methodology is not carried out in the following cases:

- insufficient transparency of optical media of the eye;

- pronounced dystrophic changes on the fundus ;

- retinal rubeosis;

- pronounced epiretinal gliosis.

The cost of the operation varies in a significant price range. It is calculated taking into account the amount of the area of the retina being exposed. A key role in this matter is played by the clinic itself, in which the laser coagulation of the retina is carried out. The patients' testimonies indicate that after the procedure the vision does not improve, but, importantly, it does not deteriorate. When choosing a clinic for manipulation, pay attention to the equipment on which the operation will be performed, the qualification of a specialist, and, of course, the cost.

Today laser coagulation is used not only to treat retinal pathologies, but also the cervix. The treatment of pseudo-erosion of the cervix is the destruction of cylindrical epithelial cells. To conduct it, chemical means are used, as well as instrumental methods of treatment. The most effective method is laser vapolarization (laser coagulation of the cervix uteri). The main advantage of this method is its accuracy. It is worth noting that the laser beam acts on abnormal cells, and the healthy ones remain outside the zone of surgical intervention. All manipulations are carried out under the control of the colposcope. The surgeon regulates not only the direction, but also the depth of penetration of the beam into the mucous membrane of the cervix. Laser coagulation is a painful procedure, but it is not accompanied by scar formation or narrowing of the cervical canal. A significant disadvantage of the above treatment is its cost. Therefore, gynecologists most often prescribe laser vapolarization to patients in whom cervical abnormalities are poorly treated with medication.
