Historical reference

Settlement Kesova Gora (Tver region) is the oldest settlement of Tver. It is mentioned in the annals of 1238, although in those days it was called the Kiasova mountain. According to local history studies, the village was named in honor of the Tatar prince Kias, who then lived nearby in his residence. Later the settlement became a part of the Gorodets village of Bezhetsky district, and then the whole Kesogorovo region was transferred to the Kashinsky district. In its composition, Kesova Mountain remained until 1929. The flourishing of commercial activity in the village came in the middle of the 17th century, when more than 770 souls lived in it in 300 yards. Later, the settlement became part of the territory of the Tver governorate, and after 1796 - part of the province.

As is known from the chronicles, this area belonged to the princely family of Prozorovsky almost until the middle of the 19th century. The last owner of the Kesovaya Mountain was Varvara Yurievna Trubetskaya. Since 1929 the village belongs to the Bezhetsk District of the Moscow Region, and since 1935 it has been a part of the Tver Region.

Sights of Kesovaya Mountain

All the ancient buildings of the village were destroyed as a result of a catastrophic fire in 1740. After many architectural monuments were rebuilt, but it was not possible to completely restore the historical sights.

Until now, only the Nikolsky Temple of the year 1800 has been preserved, which, by the way, still works. Local residents call it the Nikola-Grachi temple, since it is located at the junction of two streets - Sovetskaya and Rooki. Unfortunately, two churches (Ioana Predtecha and Spaso-Preobrazhensky) were destroyed during the Great Patriotic War.

Not far from the village you can see the parks that have survived from the manor estates - Troitsky and Baikovsky.

In the middle of the 20th century the village received two additional streets, and in 1950 the number reached 20. The reason for this expansion was the massive exodus of peasants from the villages. Somewhat later, in Kesova Mountain, 15 more streets with wooden buildings were built. The automobile road passes on the main Moscow street, which connects two small areas. There are local government buildings, a bus station, a club, the ROVD and monuments to the heroes of the Second World War and Lenin.

In the center of the village are preserved old wooden two-story houses, which convey the atmosphere of that time. Even now in this Russian outback you will not find buildings above three floors.
