Ipomoea: cultivation and care

Who is not familiar with this extraordinary, eye-pleasing, magnificent plant! These beautiful flowers, similar to gramophones, have been remembered from childhood by their iridescent bloom. But not everyone knows that these delicate flowers, called morning glory, bloom for only one day, and even then not full. Only on a cloudy day the flower can last until the evening. Ipomea, the cultivation of which does not require special knowledge, is often used to decorate fences, arbors, balconies. And if you put all your love for this plant in planting, the morning glory will respond with the same gratitude.

Do not think long over how to grow an Ipomoe. It is enough to give her maximum attention and a little patience, and the result will not keep you waiting. Many grow Ipomoeu seedlings. The most suitable time for planting seedlings is the end of March or the beginning of April. In order for the seeds to swell, they must first be soaked, otherwise the morning glory, the cultivation of which takes a considerable time, may not justify the hopes.

Since this is a very fragile plant, we should dwell in more detail on how to plant Ipomoea. In order to maintain the integrity of the stem, it is necessary to insert a thin rod in the pot, which is the backbone of the future sprout. Such twigs should be appropriately number of sprouts so that they do not get mixed up, otherwise it will not be possible to untangle them. In the process of growth, the plant needs to be transplanted a couple of times into the pots a little more. But you need to do this carefully, keeping the lump of earth on the spine. Dropping the morning glory to a permanent place in the open ground should be made by the middle of June, when you can not be afraid of frost.

Ipomea, cultivation and care of which must be done with some knowledge in this area, prefers fertilized and well-loosened soil. The place should be quiet, without wind and not very sunny, otherwise this circumstance shortens the already short life of the glory of the morning glory.

Ipomoe must be planted at a distance of about ten centimeters between plants, and it is advisable to use different varieties. In advance it is necessary to take care of a support, as the plant curls and subsequently forms a beautiful flowering cloth. Soil must be fed with certain mineral fertilizers every ten to fifteen days, until the plant is well rooted. Regular watering is mandatory.

There are perennial species of morning glory. The shoots of these species are pruned and left about ten centimeters long. Morose weather morning glory can not tolerate. At temperatures below seven or thirteen degrees, the aerial part may die.

Ipomei can be propagated and directly planted seeds in the open ground. This process is better to produce in the second half of May. Two or three seeds are placed in the hole, previously soaked in water for a day. It is also allowed to soak seeds in hot water (up to fifty degrees) two to four hours before planting. Morning glory grows at eighteen or twenty degrees. Germs appear between six to fourteen days.

Ipomoea multiplies with the help of cuttings, layers, division of rhizomes.

The height of the morning glory can reach three meters. It blooms from June to September, but only if all the nuances of planting and care are met correctly.

There is also a sky-blue morning glory, the cultivation of which requires more attention.

Seeds of this species are most active, so they must be soaked for twelve hours. Seedling should be planted in February or early March. Sprouts should be protected from direct sunlight. If the sprouts begin to fade, they should be set aside temporarily from the window far away. In the ground they can be planted at the end of April.

It is necessary to remember the main thing: the flower of the morning glory reveals itself only for one day and even less, therefore, the more careful and correct the care for this plant, the more beautiful and abundant will be its flowering.
