White datura: growing from seeds

When the street is still freezing and cold, inveterate gardeners are already stocked with plant seeds, planning what and where this year will grow in the garden. Most people prefer annuals, which allow each time to create a new kind of flower garden, to update it and to saturate it with bright colors, Datura is not the last place among such plants. Growing out of the seeds of this overseas visitor does not cause any special difficulties, so the plant has taken root in our gardens.

A native of the datura from Central America and was brought to Europe relatively recently, but immediately gained popularity. The flower is also called dope (because of its hallucinogenic properties). Cultivation of the datura does not imply any special knowledge. Seeds are sown in early March in an ordinary garden land mixed with sand and humus. Then they pour a layer of earth 5 mm thick. The earth com must always be wet. A dark place and a temperature of +20 ° C are conditions that will "appreciate" the seeds.

Datura differs in good germination, as the planting material retains its vitality for decades, but nevertheless it needs some care. Capacities for flowers are needed not too small, since the plant has a massive root system and rapidly increases in size.

The flower is planted in the open ground only when the soil warms up sufficiently well and there are no frosts at night (only under such conditions the datura will be taken). Growing out of seeds in seedlings makes it possible to get a strong and healthy plant that will delight abundant flowering from the middle of summer and until the coldest. Plant flowers in a meter from each other, because the bushes grow large and spreading. A windless and sunny place is what the dathur likes.

Cultivation from seeds allows you to renew your flower garden every year and admire the luxurious white and fragrant flowers. True, you can enjoy the charming and delicate smell of flowers only late at night, at night or early in the morning, during the day they either dry up or bloom, but the smell is not the same. The plant is quite unpretentious, although it responds very nicely to the feeding. Calmly growing on any land, sunlight and regular watering - this is all that the datura requires.

Cultivation from seeds is the main way of reproduction of this culture, although in some cases resort to cuttings. For this, the lateral or apical stems are cut off and planted directly into the ground.

Datura was grown by people for more than one millennium. Initially, it was not used at all as a decor for a flower garden (in fact this culture has medicinal properties). Therefore, the flower was actively used (and is now applied) in folk medicine. His help was used by shamans, using it in magical and religious rites, so that the datura contains many unknown mysteries and secrets. And we can decorate with this magic plant our personal plots, admire its beauty and inhale a stupefying aroma.
