Southern hemisphere: nature, climate, features of flora and fauna

Those who traveled all over Europe, visited several countries in the Middle East, Africa, America and even managed to fly to Indochina, it's hard to surprise with exoticism. In this case, a traveler may be interested in a trip to the Southern Hemisphere of our planet. This part of the Earth is considered more mysterious than its northern half.

On the other side of the equator is located part of Africa, Asia and South America, Australia and New Zealand, Oceania and Antarctica. It is here that there are many little-studied (and completely unexplored) islands and the most mysterious and uninhabited continent of our planet.

Winter in the Southern Hemisphere begins in June and continues until August (at a time when the north of the planet is summer), and the warm season lasts from December to February. On this riddle does not end. Most of the natural phenomena here also occur "inside out". Air masses and water rotate in the opposite direction (this applies to cyclones and anticyclones, tornadoes and whirlpools), and the sun at noon can be seen in the north. The starry sky is also special: the constellations that are familiar to the eye of the inhabitant of the Northern Hemisphere can not be seen here, but there are their own, no less astonishing, astronomical objects.

As for flora and fauna, in this respect, Australia and New Zealand are the record holders for the number of unique species. On the other continents, some of which are in the Southern Hemisphere, both animals and plants are no different from the North. Antarctica, being the coldest continent on Earth, is completely submerged in permafrost. Even in the summer it is too cold to talk about the diversity of vegetation, but the animal world of this continent is still quite interesting. In addition, it is in Antarctica that various natural anomalies can be observed . One of them is a fairly rich animal world, which is under the ice layer both in the ocean and on the earth. In addition, there is a widespread phenomenon of nature, like "screaming snow." When walking on snow on any other continent, you usually hear a crunch, and then - a sound similar to the cry of an animal. But, despite all the mystery, these phenomena are easily explained by the banal high density of snow.

If we consider the Southern Hemisphere as a place for recreation, then tourists are mainly attracted by Australia, New Zealand and Oceania. There are excellent beaches on the coast, beautiful clean nature, excellent hunting and fishing, expanse for divers and other fans of outdoor activities. Researchers are also attracted to these parts of the land, but many are more interested in the riddles of Antarctica. The continent is too cold for tourism, but scientists do not frighten the harsh climate.

Those who are going to visit the Southern Hemisphere as a tourist, in addition to excellent rest and new emotions, need to be prepared for a long (and very expensive) flight, a fairly long acclimatization and some nuances related to the culture of visiting countries. True, there are quite a lot of exotic places in the North part of the planet, but the southern half is the undisputed leader in this respect. In the rest, the journey to this part of the world promises only pleasant surprises and unforgettable emotions.
