Identical twins

Each woman dreams of the birth of her own children, this leads not only to the maternal instinct formed during childbirth, but also the desire to self-actualize. Children born in one fruiting egg (identical twins) are extremely rare. According to the scientists, the probability of the birth of twins is about one tenth of a percent. Odnoyaytsevye twins are externally virtually indistinguishable. This feature is due to the fact that their formation occurs from one cell (zygote) by dividing it in the early stages of pregnancy.

Spermatozoa, penetrating to the egg, fertilize it. Interaction occurs only with one spermatozoon, which brings part of the genotype of a man into the cell of the female reproductive system.

The fertilized ovum (zygote) is able to share at this moment, however, under the influence of what mechanisms and why this occurs, it is not yet clear. Thus, the formation of twins from one egg occurs.

It turns out that such twins are copies of each other, not only externally, but also internally. Studies have shown that more than ninety percent of such twins are indistinguishable even fingerprints.

Identical heterozygous twins do not exist because the genotype in both embryos is identical. The only peculiarity of identical twins, which can occasionally be present, is the formation of mirror twins. In this case, one of the children is right handed, and the other is left-handed, and the fingerprints in their hands are mirrored to each other. Often, even internal organs are located in opposite places. Often, twins even have the same type of disease, because predispositions to pathologies in such organisms are the same. The interesting fact is that the separated (living and brought up in different families) twins not only have similar characters, but they have the same tastes and attitude to the surrounding objects.

What are the features of the development of twins?

Firstly, identical twins in the mother's womb have one common placenta, and secondly, because of the uneven circulation often occurs underdevelopment of one of them. Sometimes there are situations when the discrepancy in saturation (oxygen saturation) of the blood is so high that one of the fruits (lacking nutrition) dies. In addition, it is sometimes possible to develop Siamese twins (a condition in which there was no complete separation of the fruits and they are related to each other). In the best case, their connection can be insignificant and can be easily broken, however, severe cases are often encountered when children are fused with heads or have one trunk. In this case, surgical intervention is almost impossible. And successful attempts to separate such twins are rare and well known.

For many women identical twins are a desirable goal, however, their formation under the influence of any medical or non-medical effects is impossible. The division of the egg, which ultimately leads to the formation of twins, occurs spontaneously. After conducting a series of studies by scientists, it was found that there is a certain genetic predisposition to the possibility of the birth of twins. So, in women who have such children in their relatives, the probability of the birth of twins, including identical ones, is much higher than the average.

Thus, identical twins, although they are coveted by women, are often a punishing punishment. Difficulties in childbirth, the possibility of developing Siamese twins and even the death of one of the fruits lead to a great risk for both children and the mother's body.
