How to identify the best in your team: four effective tips

Creativity is an indispensable condition for the life of any organization. This is what brings novelty to work, thereby helping to resist competition.
Of course, this is not a permanent process, which always happens by itself. Moreover - it is not welcomed everywhere. In a work environment that is not designed to encourage and stimulate creative thinking, employees are sometimes hesitant or even afraid to offer their views. Such an organization is doomed, because it misses a lot of ideas that could contribute to growth. And the thing is that there are no conditions for creative thinking.

To avoid this, it is necessary to create a working environment that not only does not hinder, but also encourages the birth and promotion of creativity. How to do it? In the leadership position within any organization, there are inevitably four key tasks. Another question is how flexible and creative the head himself refers to his tasks.

1. Setting clear goals

Without setting goals, of course, it is impossible. But give the right to your employees also have their own view on how to achieve them. People working alongside you should be intrigued and interested in what they do in order to be motivated. You will never achieve this if you only give orders, carelessly looking over your shoulder and not giving others any freedom in making decisions. And you will never identify those you can rely on.

2. Control and distance

When your team is working on a single task, you should monitor this process. The main thing is not to overdo it. There is a fine line between the interest in the result of work and the intrusion into the personal space of the worker, and sometimes even an attempt to do work for him. Let people freedom to work at their own pace and try not to force the process. The best approach is to listen and help them overcome any obstacles they may encounter while working. A correct and thoughtful advice can be very useful for the implementation of any idea and for revealing clear leaders, but gross interference and pressure can slow down and even kill creativity.

3. Do not complicate, but facilitate the work of your team

If you want to maintain high morale and a positive outlook among your employees, be cautious, criticizing and controlling their efforts. It is better to support their creative impulses - to provide them with the necessary tools, to promote ideas in the general working process or even in the market, if necessary.
This all will serve to remove obstacles on the way to the goal, increase confidence in their abilities among talented team members. Ultimately, this works for your credibility and position in the team: the employees will see that they have the best manager supporting all the creative endeavors. And if you always protect the interests of your team in front of other departments or competitors - then you are a really good leader.

4. Generating and evaluating creative ideas are two different things

Creative ideas are of paramount importance for the innovation process, and there are key steps that must be taken to achieve success in their implementation. But there is a common mistake when confusing the generation of ideas with their business assessment. Such a mistake always has a negative impact on the innovation process. These two concepts should be divided, because these are completely different things.

Generating ideas is a process that should focus on quantity. Simply put, there are no bad ideas, it is better to have fifteen ideas to choose from them five, or at least one worthwhile. In addition, with the wrong approach, there is a danger to stop the initiative on the root at an early stage, without giving it the chance to develop into a potential breakthrough solution.

The evaluation of the idea is a completely different plane, it is oriented to work, to practical implementation, to long-term goals. To do this, we study the professional capabilities of the team, the company's resources, feasibility and so on.

To create a creative environment in the company, managers must recognize the importance of the contribution of their employees and always look for ways to help them give birth and develop new ideas. A certain level of supervision should be preserved, but its subordinates need to give as much freedom as possible to achieve their goals by their own methods. In other words, the initiative should not be punishable, rather the reverse.

A developed creative environment is what distinguishes a good company from a mediocre one. The absence of such is critical for the company in any competitive market.
