Fire column - an important part of the fire fighting system

Water networks exist not only to provide water to urban residents, but also serve as the main sources for eliminating fires. Individual access to them in the event of an emergency creates a fire column, directly connected to the hydrant.

Appointments and main components of the fire hydrant

To extinguish a fire, it is necessary to have special equipment that ensures the rational use of all the necessary resources to eliminate it. Fire hydrants are installed to draw water from a common network, this allows you to respond quickly when an emergency occurs. In addition, they can be used for reclamation. Features of mounting the hydrant consist in creating certain conditions for its protection against fire, so it is often installed in special equipped shelters. Hydrants exist in two varieties:

1. Ground. They are fixed on the surface of the earth, located on the water supply system. At the same time, very often a fire column joins them immediately after installation.

2. The second type is underground hydrants. They are designed for connection with water wells. Their work is provided by a column mounted on the surface.

The main requirements for the functionality of this element of the modern fire fighting system are the creation of a continuous water supply and frost resistance. Features of the fire hydrant But provide its main parts: body, branch pipe, valves with all components and nipple, having a special thread.

Fire column. Appointment and features of the structure

To ensure the operation of the hydrant, a special key element is used, which is intended for direct connection with it. In this case, it is the fire column that serves as a connecting link for supplying water through the hydrant. The main components of this element are the body and the head. At the bottom of the case there is a bronze ring with a triangular thread, it provides a reliable installation. It should be noted that, especially for underground hydrants, there is a CPA fire column, with which you can open and close water access from the well. It is equipped with a threaded ring for installation, and when working towards its top, a tee is attached. Through this column there is a pressure key, with which you can open The hydrant valve should be turned off, but when removing it, it must first be closed.

Features of the fire column

During operation, the protective cover of the hydrant is flipped and the fire column is screwed up to a tight connection, which is determined by the level of the gasket pressing. Water pressure control is provided by turning the handle counter-clockwise, while the rod rotates, which gradually leads to the opening of the valve through other connecting elements. Then, water flows through the formed passage into the hydrant body and passes into the fire column. At the end of work, the head closes in the reverse order, and the remaining water is drained through a special channel that overlaps when the valve is opened through a rubber seal.
