OAO Demikhovsky Machine Building Plant

Demikhovsky Machine-Building Plant has been producing rolling stock for more than 20 years . During this time the company has developed more than two dozen different types of electronic trains. And the production totals more than 8000 cars. Beginning and development

Very few people know that the history of the DMZ begins from the distant 1935, when the plant was used to provide the USSR with specialized chemical equipment. At that time, the number of employees of this enterprise was only 100 people, and during its existence it managed to endure a huge number of changes and stages of re-profiling.

It should be noted that during the Great Patriotic War the plant's capacities were also reformatted in order to provide the military forces of the Soviet Union with various specialized equipment such as Katyusha, air tanks and so on. A new stage of history

In the late 80-ies of the last century there was a complete re-profiling of the production of this enterprise. In connection with the introduction of a new technology and the development of the operation of 12 and 14-car electric trains, it was necessary to provide the most urgent modernization of rolling stock. It should be noted that the Riga Carriage Works, which at that time was the main manufacturer of commuter trains on the territory of the USSR, was clearly unable to cope with the emerging demand.

It is for this reason that the Demikhovsk machine-building plant started its work in this direction. The feedback of employees who work in the company during this time shows that, despite all kinds of disruptions in work, the company management should always ensure maximum comfort and comfort for its employees, as well as for all passengers who will subsequently use their products .

In 2006, Demikhovsky Machine Building Plant produced and sold 571 cars of electronic trains ED4M, ED4MK, and ED9M, while all possible spare parts for this company were sold for more than 40 million rubles. It is worth noting the fact that in 2006 the enterprise made its own development - a model of the ED4MKM train. In the future, the first version of such an electric train was certified only in 2008. It was intended for carrying out so-called intermodal transportations. Over time, production growth only increased, and in 2007, 630 electric cars were sold, including the updated model ED9MK.

Modern developments

In 2015, after a small crisis, the development of a specialized suburban electronic train model EP2D began. This composition is the successor of models ED4M 500 series. It complies with the newest security requirements established in the countries of the Customs Union and is intended to provide comfortable passenger traffic in areas where the track width is 1520 mm and where the electrified DC current has a voltage of 3000 V.

It is worth noting the fact that the new model of the train can work on any lines, regardless of the height of the platforms. At the moment, it is envisaged the possibility of creating in the near future a similar model of an electric train of alternating current EP3D, as well as a specialized diesel composition.

Scale of production

Special attention should be paid to the impressive production capacities that the Demikhovsk machine-building plant has. At the moment the area of the enterprise is 47.2 hectares, on which there are assembling-welding, machine-assembly, car-assembly, blanking-press and many other shops. Thus, the complex operation of several divisions allows to ensure the most productive and high-quality work, as control over the implementation of technology is carried out even in the process of manufacturing small parts.

Demikhivsky Machine Building Plant provides jobs for more than 2,400 people, while a significant part of the company's employees includes the highest-level specialists with a long working experience in the field of engineering.
