Drama Theater Okhlopkova (Irkutsk) has existed for more than a century. His repertoire is rich and varied. The theater conducts festivals, creative seminars, literary evenings, charity balls. History of the theater

The idea of creating the theater arose at the turn of the 18-19 centuries. Irkutsk society longed for this event. Governor-General B. Lecano patronized the opening of the theater in the city. He exercised his constant patronage. The Drama Theater (Irkutsk) received the status of a professional in 1850. Then the troupe of wandering actors remained in the city for work on an ongoing basis. A year later the building was built for the theater, Governor-General Nikolai Muravyov-Amursky was the trustee of this event. The first performance of the troupe was the play "Russian Man Kindly Remembers", written by N. Polev, a native of Irkutsk. The director of the theater was AN Pokhvisnev. He was an officer of the Guards and a playwright, his plays were staged in Moscow and St. Petersburg scenes. The theater hosted great masters in its walls, such as PN Orlenev, MI Petipa, VF Komissarzhevskaya and others. They often went on tour there. In 1967 the theater was named after N. Okhlopkov. This outstanding director of the Soviet Union began his creative career on this Irkutsk stage. In 1999 the theater received the title "Academic" for its great contribution to the development of art and for great achievements. Two sites have a drama theater (Irkutsk): a chamber stage and the main one. Each evening, both halls are filled with spectators, there is not a single free space. Recently, a design cabinet has been created and equipped in the theater . It employs specialists who produce advertising brochures, posters, and programs. The theater conducts educational activities. And also here courses of improvement of professional skill for representatives of creative trades are held. In 2006, the theater received the F. Volkov Award for its great contribution to the development of art. To date, the director of this temple of arts in Irkutsk is AA Streltsov - Honored Worker of Culture of the Russian Federation. The artistic director of the theater is G. V. Shaposhnikov.

Theater building

The Drama Theater (Irkutsk) for the years of its existence has changed several rooms. The first buildings were wooden. In 1897 stone was built. The project of the building of the Irkutsk theater was designed by VA Schröret - the main theater architect at the imperial court. The construction was supported in every possible way by the Governor Alexander Goremykin. The building was built according to the traditional for theaters scheme - a longline. The interior of the room was amazing, the acoustics were perfect. Today the building has the status of a monument of historical and cultural heritage of federal significance. In 1999, the theater was reconstructed.

Re-education project

The Drama Theater (Irkutsk), in cooperation with law enforcement agencies, is conducting an experiment. Difficult teenagers are arranged to work for a while. They work in the garden of the theater for a month, make decorations with artists, even take to the stage and take part in performances near professional actors. Many teenagers first get acquainted with the theater due to the fact that there is such a project. The guys and the girls are all different, someone immediately got involved in the work, someone at first was lazy or afraid, refused, but gradually everyone was drawn into the process with pleasure. Teenagers say that they like to communicate with artists, and in the theater it is much more interesting than in school. This experience will help difficult guys and girls develop their intellect, creativity, and for someone will play a decisive role in destiny. The idea of this project belongs to the director of the Irkutsk theater. Law enforcement authorities supported it without hesitation. The problem of difficult teenagers in Irkutsk is very acute, there are more than 7,000 in the city and everyone should be employed for the summer. Not every manager of an enterprise, company, and so on will decide to hire, even temporarily, such a child, even if they have an urgent need for workers. And difficult teenagers who want to improve, feel that the society does not trust them, that is why the Irkutsk drama theater does a good deed for them. The author of the idea of the project hopes that the experiment will live, and the boys and girls can feel themselves full members of society.
