Currant twisted with sugar - tasty and useful

The name of this berry originated from the old Russian word "smorod", which means "strong smell". And the truth, this berry has a strong aroma, which is inherent in the leaves and branches of the bush on which grows currants.

It is a storehouse of vitamins and nutrients, and in order to make up the daily intake of vitamin C, you need to eat only 20 berries per day. And it does not really matter, red it will be berry on twigs, classical black or exotic white - any equally useful. But how to do it in those times of the year when there are no fresh berries in the garden, and the shops are even seemingly frozen and do not inspire confidence? In late autumn, in winter and spring, the curd will come to the rescue with a twisted sugar and sugar. This procurement will help to increase immunity, improve and strengthen the body throughout the year.

So, to make the twisted currant happy for you throughout the winter, choose a recipe to taste. Here are a few simple options.

  1. For one kilogram of berries you need a half kilogram of small sugar. The currant must be carefully sorted, removed stems, twigs and leaves, shaggy tops removed disinfected manicure scissors. Next, the berries are placed in the bowl of a blender or food processor and thoroughly grinded. When the crushed berries will turn into a homogeneous mass - in a thin trickle, pour sugar in, then beat again. Such currant, twisted with sugar, can be stored in sterilized jars as a simple jam. If the banks are ordinary, then it is better to keep the berry in the refrigerator.
  2. If you do not have a blender or a combine at home, or just do not want to mess with them, you can do much easier: the currants are twisted (with sugar) prepared with the help of a wooden crush. Washed and dried berries should be put in a deep enamel container and pounded with pestle, add sugar and mix. Dry, sterilized jars are filled with mashed berries, sugar is sprinkled on top and closes. This recipe for a twisted currant requires aging in 2-3 days: during this time the sugar will dissolve, and the jam will acquire a rich taste.
  3. And here is another recipe for those who prefer the taste of really fresh berries. Disassembled and washed currants should be rubbed in a blender or even simply twisted in a meat grinder, add sugar to taste (someone loves more, and someone - more sently). Now the prepared molds with a lid are filled with this fragrant mixture, closed and put into the freezer. Store such a currant - twisted, with sugar - can be forever. The most pleasant thing is that when defrosting its useful properties are not lost, but the taste always remains exactly the same as that of freshly picked berries from a bush.

Berries, cooked by one of these methods, will always be a universal dessert. They can be eaten as an independent dish, say, with tea, add to ice cream, spread on toast and fresh rolls, soak pies. Moreover, from such currant it is quite possible to prepare fruit drinks, compotes and even homemade wine.
