Do I need a visa to Thailand for CIS citizens?

To answer the question whether a visa is needed for Thai citizens of Russia, it is necessary to make a reservation that it is necessary for them only in case of coming to the Kingdom of Thailand not for the purpose of tourism. That is, if a Russian citizen has gathered in this tropical country for work, for medical treatment, for studying, for participation in conferences, for doing business, or for the purpose of quietly passing off old age (yes, there is also such a type of visa to Thailand as a "pension visa" ), He will have to apply for a visa to the Thai embassy in Moscow (officially - the Embassy of the Kingdom of Thailand).

Registration of a visa to Thailand in the Embassy takes 15 days. The list of documents for non-immigrant visa (Non-immigrant Visa) varies, depending on the type of visa and length of stay in the country. An official of the Embassy can request additional documents. The most difficult to obtain a visa for those who want to find a job in Thailand, the most easily gets a visa for treatment (this country has recently been famous for its quality obstetrician services, so it often comes there to give birth).

If a Russian citizen decides to travel to this country as a tourist for less than a month, then he does not need a visa to Thailand. How are these 30 days determined? Before boarding an aircraft, still on board, special forms are issued - these are migration cards. The card must be filled in and presented on passport control together with a foreign passport (by the way, the validity of the passport is very important - the passport must be valid for at least six months after arriving in Thailand and have 2 blank pages). On the migration card, the border guard puts a stamp with the date of entry and the final date of departure from the country. If you miss this deadline, then when you leave the country you will have to pay a fine: 500 baht (about $ 15) for every extra day in the country.

But what if you want to extend your holiday in Thailand? You can ask for an extension of your stay in the country at the Immigration Bureau (in any of its offices). The entire procedure lasts about half an hour. You come to the office, they help you fill out a standard application for extending the period of stay in the country, take pictures, you pay 1,900 baht per person and receive a stamp about the extension. This procedure is called Extension Visa. Thailand - a country for leisure is cheap, and the road there is expensive, so the idea of continuing to stay in this tropical paradise comes to mind for many tourists, so the procedure for issuing an extension visa is so dubious.

For citizens of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and also Ukraine, a visa to Thailand is placed upon arrival in the country. It has a very short period of time - only 15 days. It is clear that this is not enough for a full rest, therefore citizens of these countries left the country after two weeks to Burma, Cambodia or Laos, to return to Thailand for another 15 days. Then the Thai government canceled the visa upon arrival on the land borders of the kingdom. Now, if the citizens of these countries want to rest in Thailand for more than 15 days, they must take a visa at the embassies of the Kingdom in their countries. Usually the visa on arrival is paid - 1000 baht (which is about $ 30), but in recent years at the height of the tourist season, Thailand cancels fee-paying visas.

For citizens of Moldova, Belarus, Georgia, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, a visa is required to Thailand. It is issued in advance (at least 15 days before departure) at the embassies and consulates of Thailand. To obtain a visa, you must show a return ticket. Also, you need to submit a certificate from the bank on the status of the account and a certificate from the place of work about what your position and salary for the past six months. Citizens of the above countries need to purchase health insurance for the entire period of rest in Thailand. And we must not forget that border guards have every right to ask you to show cash, because it is believed that a tourist should have an amount of 10 thousand baht per person.
