Construction of the stadium "Zenith Arena": chronology

The construction of the stadium "Zenit-Arena" is the longest event in Russian football. Dolgostroy began in 2007 and has not been completed so far, the deadline for the delivery of the facility is constantly being postponed, and the cost is increasing day by day. The newspapers regularly receive encouraging statements from contractors and managers about the construction of the stadium.

"Zenith" is already waiting for a new arena, but the players can not affect the speed of the construction in any way. So, let's move back ten years ago, when the idea of building a new stadium just arrived.

2005 year

In March 2005, information appeared that on the Krestovsky Island the Kirov Arena would be demolished, and in its place the construction of the stadium would start from scratch. "Zenith" was still far from the UEFA Cup and the Hulk in the composition. The management announced that the new arena will cost one hundred and fifty million dollars, and the capacity will be 50 thousand spectators.

In April, the concept of the future stadium appeared. The basis was "Old Trafford". Later this idea was criticized by Demet Momot, who considered the open stadium to be inappropriate for the Russian climate. Six months later, the management announced that the construction of the stadium "Zenit Arena" is already worth 250 million dollars.

Now the total cost of construction already amounts to 33 billion rubles. In October, they again demolish the roof, which the customer did not like. In November, the commissioning of the finished arena for 2013 is scheduled. The cost has increased to 40 billion rubles.
