Carpet styling: types, features, advantages and disadvantages

Among a wide variety of flooring, carpet is very popular. The quality of this material, its durability and price depend on many factors: the length of the pile, the thickness of the substrate, the composition, the fixing layer. Therefore, every buyer must take into account all his shortcomings and advantages before choosing this material. When choosing a carpet should be remembered that it perfectly absorbs the smell, which is not eliminated, even during prolonged airing. Therefore, it should not be used in the kitchen or in the smoking room.

Obligatory conditions for carpet packing

You have purchased a carpet of the necessary shade, but do not rush it to bed. First of all, you need to make sure that all the necessary conditions for this have been created.

Often during repairs, many people think about a new floor covering, which often becomes a carpet. Laying this material should occur at the very last turn, so as not to spoil its surface.

The floor must be smooth, clean and dry.

The air temperature in the room should be more than 15 о С, and humidity not more than 75%. Remember that you do not need to start packing only the material you brought. It must be acclimatized, therefore it is necessary to leave material in the room for which it is intended for at least a day.

Preparing the floor

First of all, it is necessary to measure the room correctly and accurately, taking into account all its features (niches, ledges, partitions, etc.). You can also draw a schematic sketch so that calculations can be made easier and faster. After the calculations, it is necessary to add 10% of the carpet.

The preparation of the floor consists of five stages:

1. Removing the old cover.

2. Elimination of all nicks and cracks.

3. Remove dust and debris.

4. Priming the floor.

5. Laying the substrate.

For a rubber-based web, you need to choose a paper substrate on a textile base - soft. This will have a positive effect on the duration of operation of the floor covering.

Stacking

There are several features of the styling, which should be taken into account when choosing a carpet. Stacking will be ideal in the event that all conditions are met.

1. Carefully watch for the elimination of bubbles. If there is even the slightest hint of the emergence of a small bubble, it must be eliminated. It is on this depends the final result of stacking.

2. It is necessary to select the drawing with accuracy, only so the canvas will be homogeneous.

3. The joint should be placed necessarily perpendicular to the window, so that when the sunlight hits it it is not visible.

4. The floor must be perfectly level. In another case, the canvas will quickly wear out in places of presentation.

5. Do not use a large amount of glue, especially if the carpet is made of natural material. Excess glue can get on the pile, and this will affect the appearance of the floor covering.

Stacking technology

Today, there are several technologies, thanks to which you can qualitatively lay the carpet. Stacking for each of them has its own characteristics. With easy ways of laying it is possible to cope on its own, when choosing more complex ways it is better to turn to specialists who possess not only skills, but also additional professional tools.

The technology of laying the carpet is divided into glutinous and glutinous. The latter, in turn, is divided into stretching and free method (with fixation along the perimeter or on the scotch tape).

Adhesive method

This method is used only in premises with a large area. Respectability of the institution is emphasized by carpet. Laying this material is designed for rooms with increased load. This is a rather laborious process. But in this way the coating is reliably protected from deformations, wrinkles and blisters. In this way the material is laid in such a sequence.

1. Cleaning the floor of debris and dust.

2. Apply a serrated spatula to the surface of the glue. Bonding the substrate.

3. After drying, the carpet should be spread out. It is necessary to make sure that the edges go to the walls.

4. Half of the linen must be folded and applied to it with glue for carpet. Put the smoothed side to the floor, evenly stretching it.

5. The same must be repeated with the second half and subsequent strips.

6. Carpet should dry, edges need to be cut.

7. Install skirting boards.

Cons . The complexity of the entire laying process, the material can not be reused for other rooms. Adhesive for carpet should be chosen carefully.

Benefits. The floor covering is securely fastened, there are no bubbles, wrinkles. To clean the surface, you can use a washing vacuum cleaner. During the occurrence of a fire, the fire will not spread too quickly.

Free laying

Free laying of the carpet is characterized by a simple spreading of the canvas around the perimeter of the room. This method of laying should be used only for rooms with a small area, where you can use a whole piece of cloth. Laying the carpet with your own hands is as follows:

1. Cleaning the floor of debris and dust.

2. Roll out the canvas in such a way that its edges necessarily go to the walls.

3. On the one hand, it is necessary to press firmly against the wall and secure it with a skirting board.

4. The same is done with the canvas on other walls, having previously cut off excess material. In the area of the door we fix the sheet with a metal strip.

Cons . Stacking is not strong. On such a carpet you can not put heavy furniture with wheels. Do not use a cleaning vacuum cleaner for cleaning.

Benefits. Simple way of laying.

Stacking with double-sided scotch tape

This method is the most common way of installing the carpet. Stacking in this way is reliable and simple enough. It does not require special preparation of the floor, in addition, in this way, you can lay the linen on any type of old flooring (linoleum, laminate, tile). If necessary, it can be removed. Stacking is as follows:

1. In the form of a grating, double-sided adhesive tape must be pasted on the floor at a distance of 50 cm. The upper film is not removed.

2. Part of the protective film is peeled off, tightly pressing a piece of cloth to the tape. With the rest of the canvas we do everything according to the same principle.

3. Superfluous parts of the carpet carefully trimmed, the edges are fixed using a skirting board.

Cons . Possible occurrence of bubbles, deformation of the tape.

Benefits. Quick and easy way of styling.

Cost of packing

There are many features that characterize the laying of the carpet. The price at the moment in the Moscow region for the services of professionals are as follows:

  • Gluing - 250 rubles / m 2 ;
  • Installation skirting - 70 rubles / m 2 ;
  • Laying the carpet on the stairs - 500 rubles / m 2 .

The cost of these services performed by specialists, of course, is not low. But many prefer to spend a large amount of money to achieve a more reliable result.
