Brussels, broccoli, cauliflower - the cultivation and care of these crops are similar in many respects, but there are also differences. Let's try to understand.

Cabbage color, cultivation

It must be said that cabbage got such a name not because of the color of the heads, since they are most often white, but because they use dense, unblown inflorescences surrounded by a green rosette. Cauliflower contains a large number of vitamins and nutrients. For example, eating 50 g of this vegetable, you will provide your body with the daily requirement of vitamin C. Cultivation of it begins with the selection of places. The soil she likes is nutritious, needs sunny heat and good lighting. That's why choose light, not shaded by trees. To choose the land in the country, of course, do not have to, so it just need to feed and fertilize. The fertilizer is applied in autumn or a few weeks before planting. If possible, plant cauliflower on the spot where before it grew such crops as potatoes, cucumbers and legumes.

First you need to plant seedlings. This is done in late March, early April. If possible, it is best to do it in the greenhouse, but the apartment conditions will also work. It is advisable to temper the seeds before planting. To do this, they are first soaked in hot water for 15 minutes, and then put on the bottom shelf of the refrigerator. Before planting, all seeds must be dried. Initially, the seeds are sown in a box, and after the seedlings have risen and the first real leaves appear, it must be dived into the cups.

Plant the seedlings on the soil in such a way that the distance between it is 30 cm and the row spacing is 50-60 cm. To ensure that the cabbage receives enough heat, it is best to make a small greenhouse above it, which can be opened periodically. Care for cauliflower is reduced to weeding, loosening the land, compulsory hilling and watering as necessary. Twice a season, it can be fed with a liquid solution of Mullein.

Broccoli cabbage, cultivation

If we talk about this kind of cabbage, then it is grown, as well as color. Outwardly, both species are very much alike, so some even confuse them. If weather conditions permit, then broccoli, as well as cauliflower, can be planted in the soil, without sprouting directly. True, the harvest in this case will be collected later.

Brussels sprouts, cultivation

The external difference between this cabbage and others is that small sticks (with walnuts) are formed on its trunk, the number of which can vary from 30 to 100. Cultivation of Brussels sprouts is possible only with pre-planting seedlings. Select only the most healthy seedlings, without any damage. Planting of seedlings is at the end of April, beginning of May. The soil must be loosened and fertilized. The distance between the seedlings is 40-50 cm, and between the rows - about 60-70 cm. The Brussels sprouts develop slowly, need care such as watering, hilling, weeding, and removal of the apical growth point about 1 month before the harvest. As a rule, kochanchiki can be ripped off in early September.
