Cultivation of them is not too difficult and even novice amateur gardeners can do. In this region, this guest came from South America and immediately liked many. Alstroemeria is grown in greenhouses, in pots for sale or cut into bouquets.

Due to the fact that the flower has a long stem, sometimes reaching more than a meter, it looks very beautiful and organically in bouquets. As this is a heat-loving plant, some particularly fastidious species are grown only in the indoor conditions in pots, other species adapted to our climatic conditions can be planted in the garden. The southern part of Russia and Ukraine is most suitable for alstroemeria. Growing this flower is not problematic, so it is not necessary to buy a ready-made plant, and you can stock up a bag of seeds.

In the open ground alstroemeria can be sown in April or May, when the earth warms up, but it is better to still grow the seedlings. To do this, in the prepared pots, cups or boxes you need to pour the leaf and turf ground in the proportion of 2: 1, then put the seeds of alstroemeria, pressing slightly and priporoshiv earth. Growing colors involves stratification, which is carried out for a month at a temperature of +5 ° C.

To seedlings were ready for planting by the end of May, seeds must be sown in February or March. The prepared containers with alstroemeria are sealed in a bag and sent to a cold place for a month, after that, at the effect of a higher temperature, shoots appear already on the 10th or 20th day. Planted in the open ground can only be when it becomes warmer and there will be no frost, because the flower of alstroemeria is very thermophilic.

The plant is not very demanding, but prefers to grow on well drained, fertile and acidic soils. A delicate penumbra or sunny in the morning the site will be an excellent place for alstroemeria. Cultivation in such a place will provide a lush flowering throughout the season.

In addition to seeds, the flower can also be propagated by dividing rhizomes. Young plants should not be touched, as they may die, but adults are divided into parts with 10 points of renewal. At division usually does not do without cuts, therefore all wounds need to be processed by pounded coal (in order to avoid leakage of juice). With seed cultivation, alstroemeria blooms in the second year, and if divided into too small cherry, the flower can be ill for a long time and will please flowers only for the third year.

Looks like a butterfly, beautiful, not pretentious - it's all alstroemeria. Growing plants in warm regions gives positive results, although it can grow in colder regions. If the winters are too harsh, then the flower will not help any shelter, so late autumn before the onset of severe colds it is necessary to cut off the leaves and stems, and dig the rhizome and put it in a container. Keep it you need, like dahlias and gladioli, in the cellar or any other dark and cool room. With such care, alstroemeria will please its appearance and decorate the garden for many years.
