Unusual musical material appeared in quite a large number in the 80s of the 20th century. One of the brightest rock bands was the "TV" band, featuring extravagant vocals, electronic sound and sharply social texts.

How it all began

The group "TV" appeared in 1984, when a team of like-minded people formed around Mikhail Borzykin. The participants have already tried to work in the rock groups "Ikar", "Lake", but they tried to create something absolutely new for the country of that time. During this period, an infinite number of collectives appeared in Leningrad, and it was not easy to stand out against this background. "TV" it was possible. The group immediately became part of the Leningrad rock club and already in the first year of its appearance participated in the festival and even received a second prize. And already in 1985 the team recorded the first album - "The Procession of the Fishes".

Biography of the leader

The leader of the group - Mikhail Borzykin, was born in Pyatigorsk on May 27, 1962, but his native city is Leningrad, where he studied at an English school and where he created his first musical group. In 1980, Mikhail entered the Leningrad University at the Faculty of Philology and from that time devoted most of his life to his work, which prevented him from graduating. In 1984, he created the "TV" group, with which his entire subsequent biography is linked. Borzykin saw the ensemble as a form of self-realization and self-improvement. He never aspired to commercial success and fame, preferring to create works that gave him pleasure, moral satisfaction.

In addition to music, Michael gave a lot of time to self-development, creative and social activities. Since 2007, he has taken part in various social actions, for example, in the movement against the construction of the Gazprom building in St. Petersburg. He pondered a lot on global philosophical themes, and this was reflected in his songs and poems. In 2009, Borzykin published a book of poems "Fed by the throat", in which readers could see the full depth of his talent.

Time of glory

Since 1985, the "TV" has come a time of popularity. Participation in rock festivals brought fame, the album's record dispersed throughout the country in the form of tapes. In 1986, "TV" showed a program that made a lot of noise and caused dissatisfaction with the authorities. In the concert there were such songs as "Fish", "Three or four reptiles", "Your father is a fascist", "Fatherland of illusions", which were supplemented by an unusual kind of performer. Bright politicization was the answer of time, but later Borzykin began to write more philosophical and difficult-musical works.

In the late 80-ies the group "TV" was a regular participant of the events of the rock club, actively toured, including abroad. She even released a record, which at that time was a significant achievement, which seriously contributed to the popularity of artists. But the leader of the team was always more interested in music. The group "TV" constantly experienced staff turnover, none, except Michael, for a long time in it did not linger, it affected the quality of creative material. It was unstable and experienced the influence of various directions: from blues to heavy metal. Borozykin's unusual and vivid texts and his vocals remained unchanged.

Musical specificity of "TV"

The group "TV" differs from all the collectives of its time. The main sign is the expressive and memorable voice of the soloist. Musically, the band experienced different times, beginning with punk-style, it went through the stages of hobby for electronic music and a new wave, there were periods of rhythm and melody. The closest in style to the "TV" is the Depeche Mode team, and according to the texts and the submission - the group "Alice". The performances of "TV" always represent a bright well-directed show with the main actor - Mikhail Borzykin. The main emphasis in songs is made on texts, and music is an additional expressive means.

The rest period

In 1991, the album "The Dream of a Suicide" was released, and it was the final point of the glorious period of the band. At this time, the contradictions between the participants were exacerbated, and the team disintegrated. A short period of feverish change of composition and episodic concerts began, which lasted about 10 years. There were times when the team generally cut to a duet.

At the same time the songs of the group "TV" remained known in the circles of fans of Russian rock, and she always had fans who inspired Borzykin to continue his work. Rare club performances allowed fans to see their favorite band and demonstrated that the team leader continues to create and develop as a musician and poet.

"The Second Coming" of the "TV"

Rock band "TV" since 2001 began regular performances in the St. Petersburg clubs "Zoo" and "Milk", participated in the festival "Windows Open", issued two CDs in succession: "The Road to Success" (2001) and "Megamisantrop" (2004), re-arranged and duplicated the album "Alienation" (2005). The time of return was very productive for the team. He actively performed in the clubs of Moscow and St. Petersburg, gave concerts in Kiev and the cities of the near abroad. In 2009, the band celebrated the 25th anniversary of creative activity, released the album "Dejavu" (2009), and in 2014 celebrated the 30th anniversary of the concert in the club "Cosmonaut". The permanent leader of the team clearly demonstrates his active civic position not only in lyrics. He participated in rallies of the opposition and the March of the Dissenters.

In 2015, Mikhail Borzykin launches a crowd-raising company to raise funds to record a new album.
